Fabulous, it's Friday

Finally it's Done!  Terrible picture with it being cloudy, bad lighten; but was anxious to show this afghan is finally finished.  It's a knitted feather and fan pattern with each section being a 20 stitch repeat.  This one is named Sea and Sand, Sand and Sea.  In the beginning I called it Sea and Sand, but later kept interchanging the names.  This afghan has been in the works over 1 year.  I found a post from June 4th of last year where I had about 3 stripes done.  Now, it's not like I worked on this everyday or didn't work on anything else during this time; but...it's been a long time...much longer then I like to have one going.

And So for the first time in ages I do have a Finished Object to share with you on Friday AND a post for Random 5, Friday Five, 5 on Friday.  All badges are clickable, join us!

  • Hope you had a wonderful and safe 4th of July.  Sadly our fireworks weren't quite as good as normal.  It rained, not stormy so they went ahead.  But, I wonder if they couldn't shoot them off as high because of that?  And or, because of the dampness they didn't last as long in the sky?  No matter, Happy Birthday America.  You're an awesome country and I so appreciate all the sacrifices of those that made it possible for us.
  • Obviously I'm really excited to have the above afghan completed.  It's still in need of being laundered and blocked, but and a better taken, but it's DONE!
  • More planning for the trip to Spain next Spring has taken place AND, we now have all our tickets for flights confirmed.  We've decided not to stay the full 10 days in Malaga (Marbella Beach Area), we'll be there a week then fly to Barcelona via Madrid for a few days, AND we now have confirmed hotel reservations there in Barcelona as well.  Gonna give our brains and our charge card a rest before we move onto the next step...which will be planning tours, though I do have a lists of things we want to see.
  • House smells so good right now, hubby is making his "World Famous" Baked Beans.  We're going to a Baby Reveal party later today with family (normally we would have spent yesterday, the 4th together here at our house so this is combined deal).  We'll soon know whether my youngest nephew, Ryan and his wife are having a little boy or girl.  I'm pulling for a girl which would give them one of each...wouldn't that be nice.
  • Continuing to work on my SIL's family tree, but also pulled out my Mom's side file that I've not worked on in a good long while and am happy to say...I'm finding some of the missing pieces from before!
Pop in tomorrow for the 3rd Year of Projects, it's a group through Ravelry, always happy to have more folks join us.

AND don't forget to join in on Monday for my Memory Monday...I've already gotten 4 or 5 posts written and placed in que.  Looking forward to seeing you all, the more the merrier.  The more you link and visit the more fun folks.  Join any or all of the meme's.  Enjoy the rest of your week-end.

Loving Friday

Purple Iris's about 1/3rd opened in my back yard.  I have them up and down 3 fence rows and in flower beds around the side of the house too.  I love this flowers.  So large, so pretty, so deep in color.  These are what my Mom used to say were double Iris's.

It's Friday folks, time for 5 on Friday, Random 5 and time for Finished object Friday!
  1. As people wrap a busy week and look forward to the wkend I give you natures beauty, in the form of the beautiful Iris's.  Soon, the yard will be at what I call it's purple stage.  I also have wild Geraniums that are lavender blooming.  AND, see the wee tiny blue-ish purple, those are Forget Me Nots, so as soon as the Iris really take hold it's a purple person's fantasy.  I also love that these purple beauties came from my parents yard.
  2. I have for the first time in awhile finished a project and therefore have a finished object to share with on Friday.  Yippee.  Must decide what to work on next.  Should I start something new....or try to finish Sea and Sand Afghan (a feather and fan pattern), or get brave and rip out the couple of rows I need to in order to get to knitting the green sweater for my Darling Daughter?  The finished ghan, Blue Jay is being blocked in the picture and will, like the others be donated to Homeless Families Foundation through my charity, Bridge and Beyond.
  3. Friday night at our house is Pizza night, do you have a Friday night tradition?
  4. Schools are on a delay here this am, due to some pretty substantial fog.  As of the writing of this post, 8:30 I can now see the end of my backyard, though it is still foggy.  No doubt closer to the river, and in out lying areas is still difficult to see, and therefore dangerous.
  5. Managed to weed half of one fence row yesterday, and that almost filled 1 of those large paper yard trash bags.  Half of one bed, was enough bending and stooping for me.  Gotta pace myself

Not the best lighting, but it's a good non foot travel spot to do blog afghans.  Had to give some pretty good tugs here and there to get this even; thus the beauty and necessity to block afghans........even when made of acrylic yarn and even when crocheted and not knitted.  Yarn from different makers varies a bit, people use different size crochet hooks and have different tension as they work.  ANd even when the square measure close to the same size...you have variances that are helped when you block a ghan.  AND, yarn gets dusty on the shelves in the store, picks up odors in our homes, human and pet hair, and oils from our hands.......washing a ghan is necessary.

Happy Friday all.

Friday Friday, Everyone's Favorite Day

Hello Friday (5 on Friday and Finished object Friday)
  1. I drink coffee to wake up, but want tea in the afternoon, or tea when I'm cold, or tea when I don't feel well.
  2. I like wine, dry wine.  Typically I drink White(favorite Pinot Grigio) to sip and Red with dinner (Pinot Noir).  I tent to like lighter reds over heavy like a Merlot.
  3. I rarely drink pop, maybe twice a year.
  4. I like Champagne, we always have a bottle with our traditional Christmas morning brunch.
  5. I love milk and it took me forever to get used to 2% after drinking the real deal forever
Finished another little project, the traditional corner to corner Grandma's Favorite cotton dishcloth.  Little projects are very satisfying.  Need to make 1 maybe 2 more and get rollin back on some major projects again.  Had planned to make myself a couple, then remembered this would be good for my Pay it Forward Gifts, then found out a friend's husband is very ill and thought she could use a pick me up with say homemade soap, pretty cotton cloth and a card.  So, looks like I'll be making more then I had planned on.

Almost Instant Gratification.

The beauty of small projects is you get a chance to let you mind breath, and you get almost instant gratification.  AND, if you're one to make a list you get to cross something off...that's always a good feeling.

I don't do many small items, but may have to start doing a few more.  Plus, you feel like there's more variety in the work you're doing.

And so, we have one knitted cotton washcloth, looking all springy.  After finishing this the other night, I started another; but this will be the traditional Grandma style, corner to corner cloth.  I know there's not enough left of this variegated to make another full cloth, so will see if the yellow or blue solids I have in my stash blend well enough to add when I run out of the variegated blue and yellow.

Enjoy your Friday, and share your Finished Objects, see links and badges in meme above, AND for Friday 5, as well.

  1. I drink high test coffee only, mentioned that a few Fridays ago.  I only drink 2-3 cups a day, and only in the morning.  Always wondered how people could sleep if they had coffee through out the course of the day.
  2. I think it's finally safe to say spring has arrived, people have begun mowing their yards, ours is in need.  I used to enjoy mowing; but my arthritis in my knee has me not wanting to do it now.  Guess hubby will do the bulk of it this year.
  3. I don't get why so many people have tattoos.
  4. I'm closing in on being finished with all the blogs posts for the last of the 3 blogs I registered in the April A-Z Blog Challenge.  Got 3 more posts to write for the travel blog, X,Y, and Z.
  5. Heard about a website where you can make a newsletter, that might be my big project for today....wish me luck, I've never made one before
Enjoy your up coming weekend folks.

It's all About Friday

Combining 5 on Friday with FOF(meme's for those all in tab at the top of the blog)
First...the finished object.  Finally finished the afghan called Iris and Lillies.  Iris because of all the purple and Lillies because of all the yellow.  There are about 6 shades of purple and 3 shades of yellow.  There have been many pictures of this as a work in progress and people keep saying they like the black and white swirls and the yellow and blue.  LOL, purple never shows up well in pictures, though it looks purple on my computer I know that varies.  I keep referring to the purple, makes ya wonder if that many screens are different color wise, people don't read, and or why is purple such a hard color to show up correctly?  Anyway, it's another of the ghans being assembled for my charity, Bridge and Beyond from donated squares for Homeless Families Foundation.

  1. Though it's another dark gloomy day here in Central Ohio....you might think you were Ireland.  Seriously, in the last 2-3 days it's gotten soooooooo incredibly green.  The grass is waking up from the it's winter dormat blah stage, it's been feed with the recent rains, and warmed up.  Very green and very pretty.  I hope the weather men who say we're in for a few more snows are wrong, my daffodils have started blooming.  The yellow dotting the bright green..........puts a smile of spring appreciation on my face.
  2. Do to technical difficulties, our cable not working we missed the season opening of Mad Men.  We both love the show and have been anxiously awaiting the 2 hour special.  Feet up, wine poured Sunday night we were ready.  ARgh.  Thanks to the cable men ...all 3 crews it took to fix it on Monday and Tuesday, we're operational again.  However, not in time to get it recorded yet.  So, fingers crossed tonight we'll get to see it...or get it recorded if it's on late so we'll be ready for the 2nd episode.
  3. I've been involved an April A-Z Blog Challenge, which has been fun, exciting, challenge, and some days disappointing.  You blog in alphabetical order everyday, except Sundays.  I signed up 3 of my blogs.  The point is to be able to finish...the challenge.  AND meet new bloggers, by visiting at a minimum 5 blogs daily for each blog you signed up.
  4. It's almost time to get my bike out of the shed, wash it, check the tires to enjoy some bike rides.  I enjoy riding my old cruiser, heck it's an antique it's from 1971.
  5. We have a long standing tradition for Friday night.  I never cook.  It's always pizza night for hubby and I.  We might change what type of pizza we get, but 99.9% of the time it's pizza and beer for him, and pizza and wine for me.  It's the way we kick back at the end of the week.
And, now ...off to do some blog walking through the various Finished Object Friday Meme's and the new one I'm enjoying Friday 5

It's Black Friday and Finished Object Friday

Happy to share this finished afghan, called "My Granny".  Like 99% of the ghans I make it's to be donated to charity through Bridge and Beyond.  Very happy with the way it turned out.  Once I tuck the final tail, it will be laundered and blocked.  Soooooooooo, it's edged in black, and the borders black....it's Black Friday and that my friends is as close to anything connected to Black Friday as I get.  I NEVER shop on that day, can't figure out why anyone does; such a madhouse.  I'm not a madhouse kinda person.  I enjoy my peace, my quiet, my organization.

AND there's no way in the world I'm getting up at the crack of dawn to go shopping.  Nope, not me.  If you go, be careful, take time and maintain your "cool".  Be safe too!  The negativity and sometimes violence that accompanies this day frustrate and sadden me more then I can say.  Adults fighting over who's gonna buy something, so pathetic when you think of numbers of people who wonder where their next meal is coming from, where they might lay their head for rest; or how they'll fend for their loved ones.

Cable Scarf Completed

This is my first knit cable scarf. I love the yarn, the colors and the look of the cables. Prior to this the only time I had tried my hand with cables was with a wash cloth....Big mistake, cotton is so much harder to work with, no give to pull the stitches to make the cables. I have a cable knit skirt, I'd really like to make myself, but felt I needed a bit more practice with cables. Thus the scarf.

I used 3 different cable hooks/needles to see which I liked best; also good practice.

However...the scarf is much smaller then I had hoped. It's about 4 inches wide which is more narrow then I like them. And, it's shorter then I like; but ran out of yarn. In fact, only one edge is trimmed. I tried my hand with a knitted edge vs a crocheted edge. Normally I don't edge my scarves, but thought it might make it a bit widder....silly move, as I didn't have nearly as much yarn as I needed. And it's a wee bit tight in one area. Hopefully that will give a bit after blocked?

I decided I'd frog the edge so the scarf would be the same..........but, couldn't. Somehow, there was a bit of a snag and it wasn't coming out nicely; so then I grabbed my crocheted hook to get from causing further damage and........so, the scarf is edged on one side. Argh

So, when it's blocked I'll see the finished size and determine from there to whom it should be gifted/donated. I had hoped it might work for a student program my Daughters involved in, but am afraid it's too small. I'm also hopeful, the edge no edge isn't a huge deal.

It's Friday folks, make your way around to see all the finished objects on Friday. See badges and links in sidebar.

Painting with Food and Drink in Mind

Hubby and I love Guacamole, it's often the snack of choice with chips while we're enjoying our evening cocktails. Sometimes we're drinking Martini's, sometimes Vodka and Gin Tonics. No, this isn't knitted or crocheted, lol. Recently Darling Daughter, Hubby and I were vacationing in Park City, Utah. DD loves to paint pottery, and so we spent one afternoon doing just that. She's quite good at it, me.........well I've gotten better. See my previous attempt HERE (2 years ago)I didn't do real well on the back side. See the white between the 2 sides? I was attempted to sponge the edge. The gal running the shop said it was easier, and faster then trying to paint a thin black line and blended the two colors together. Apparently, I didn't get enough paint on my sponge. Still though, am over all pleased with my improvement.

Two Projects to Share....

Working on my Feather and Fan afghan, plan C now in action. Working with the lighter gray currently which will be the middle section of the afghan. You'll note 3 variegated yarns already used, 3 will follow the light gray will continuing using the dark gray and the tan between to highlight the colors and make it an appropriate size. A bit of a cheat, in that it's not finished; but...finally the design is! Since this is the 3rd go round, I'm pretty excited by having that finalized. Plan A was alternating the dark gray with the various variegated yarns...which presented the first problem (thought I had lots of the dark gray and those sections were going to be large); Plan B was to alternate the dark gray and the tan between the variegated yarns...given the amount of yarn, those sections weren't going to be wide enough to make the ghan an appropriate size...........thus I've settled on Plan C. Actually think it's plan D....somewhere along the line (believe between plan A and plan B thought about using a different color or colors with the gray). Anyway...........this final plan gets the job done using the yarn in my stash along with yarn that was donated, so I feel like I've accomplished something positive. lol
You'll notice this button on my sidebar with a link. About 2 weeks ago I joined Super Points and have been earning points by watching video's, doing survey's, and spinning the superlucky wheel daily. Yesterday, I converted some of my points to obtain $20.00 in Amazon.com gift cards. Will take a couple of days to be active, and then I can shop. I've already picked out a knitting pattern book, and a circular needle holder I'd like to buy; so sorta finished in that the project was to earn the points, and convert to them to either cash, prizes, or gift cards. Sooooooooooo, I've converted them to gift cards for Amazon.com. Pretty excited and plan to do continue the process of earning points. I should also mention for those of you who love coupons...they have tons of great coupons to help you save money, not just on groceries; but lots of things you need around the house.

You can do the same, click on the button here and or in my right sidebar and join. As soon as you post a profile and click to verify your email ady, you can start winning/earning points too. I know Amazon has other things like household items, books, electronics etc, but naturally I first went to look at the craft stuff. lol

A Pretty Project, DONE!

Coral Bells (pink ones) transplanted in flower bed 1...they should perk up a bit.
2 of 10 pots planted. Rephrasing, all 10 done, just photographed 2. I love the smell of Petuna's. They don't have much of a fragrance during the heat of the day, but in the morning and evening they are heavenly. The colors red and purple attract Hummingbirds, as do the Coral Bells.
The Purple Mountain (Coral Bells), transplanted in flower bed two. Both beds wedded and mulched. They too need to perk up. The one on the right is what they normally look like.

A different kind of finished project for you all to enjoy. This yard work gets harder with each additional year I age. Though I do love the end result.

And for your enjoyment a few other pretties in my back yard.

My daisies get like bushes they grow so well.
1 of 15 Yucca's in the back yard. I love seeing these develope. First the green bush area, then the stick, then the little arms start poking out, then the pretty bell shaped flowers.

Just Casted Off

Wow, almost wasn't going to make it today for Finished Object Friday. Late in the day to get this post up, but I literally just cast off this cotton washcloth. Been busy outside mowing, and watering and running errands. Nothing special just basic ribbing 3 x 3 with 4 rows at the start and finish with garter stitch and 4 garter stitches at the beginning and end of each row. It's still pulls in though. Though this was a big enough rib that wouldn't be a problem. Going to wet it down and see if cotton blocks? Love this color.

This is the 2nd cotton cloth from this colorway, and now it's gone. Posted last Friday about the first one. It makes it seem I've not been doing much knitting and crocheting; but I have been...just not getting anything done. Partially because other items are large items, and there's been some dreaded negative knitting going on.

Thank Goodness it's Friday

A true TGIF! LONG day yesterday at work 10.0 hours, hot and very tiring day. Walked 17,768 steps at work yesterday. Was on my feet that whole time..with the exception of maybe two 10 minute breaks. 6.737 miles. Once I made it home, elevated my legs, iced my swollen knee and poured a substantial glass of wine-and had dinner of frozen pizza...I was able to finish the sea shore cotton washcloth. I'm pleased with how well the self stripping shows up with the simple stitch. Straight stockinette stitch, with 3 garter stitches at the beginning and ending of the rows. Did 8 rows of straight garter at the beginning and end for the border. Measures almost 8 inches. I've always loved blues and greens together and might need to find more of this particular color blend.

I've never made a cotton throw, as wool or acrylic is needed during the cold months here; but was thinking a cotton throw for summer might be nice...maybe that's because right now we're having cool temperatures again..who knows. My list of things to make is really to large to think about making a cotton throw, I just really like the look.

Happy Friday one and all. I'm off to work for another day like yesterday. Sure not looking forward to it, though it will be a bit shorter then yesterday so that's a help.

Flipping out, It's Friday

Flipping out realizing I've missed a few Friday's and some WIPW, where does the time go. Just finished this scarf last night. Nothing fancy, but warm, soft, and large enough to keep someone warm. This Lion Brand Homespun garter stitch scarf is a one skein scarf, courtesy of donated yarn on Bridge and Beyond. I love this blue it looks like the ocean to me...changing slightly as you go. This is the 2nd scarf I've knitted and donated from this donated yarn.

I blogged about the first scarf during the week long challenge when it was finished, molded to look like a dog talking....HERE. It too was donated, in fact this one was already delivered.

And I had fun finishing my Martini Cotton Washcloth. That's right I said Martini, and I said mine. I staged it, also for the week long blog challenge. Take a look HERE, please and thanks.

Looking forward to getting back in the swing of things as I start visiting you all to see what you've been working on. Need to mow today, then I think it's time to perhaps start working on another afghan. You all probably wondered about that. Figured a few scarves and cotton cloths would be a nice break from the larger more tedious work of putting together afghans.

Anyone use bloglovin? I just joined it yesterday. I've not yet added this blog; but think I will...added Traveling Suitcase just yesterday. With summer travel's coming up, you might want to have a look, I've been blogging up a storm over there. Even added a series that's called Menu Monday with reviews and recommendations for places to eat when you travel.

Thumnail Picture Practice

Here's one of the many afghans I've designed that's bagged and tagged and waiting it's turn to be joined. Probably not even the next one I'll be putting together. I asked in the previous post about how to make a thumbnail, have it clickable so that it could be clicked and made larger AND have a link. Sandie offered some opinions about posting picture to other places and picking up code to make it a thumbnail. I tried several options but didn't get anywhere. Googled it and found several options, some were quite complicated. I tried the one I could sorta understand multiple times, wrote down and rechecked the code multiple times; but I couldn't get it to work.

Then found directions which produced this.

Trial #1

Trial #2

Though I was pleased I got the thumbnail thing to work. I thought this was a draft, and didn't know I had clicked published. In fact...I'm almost certain of it. So, when I came to my blog this am, I was surprised to see this. But, thought I'd leave it with information in case others are interested.

Step 1, load your picture as you always would right here on blogger
Step 2, click the edit html code tab and change the size of the picture in the code area (I used 100 x 100), but it was originally coded this way 320px; height: 230px Only change the first part of the code so that it's clickable. If you look further down into the code you see src="http...and lots of of numbers, then/s320/ and whatever you named the picture as followed by id= then the blogger ID number. I assume, leaving the 2nd number it's original size actually leaves the picture in it's large form...otherwise it wouldn't be clickable?

So, then if I wanted a link I believe I could just add a caption under or with it picture that was clickable. My original thought was to have the picture clickable....but haven't gotten that piece of the puzzle yet...might not be worth the extra messing with code? As you can tell, when you click on the first thumbnail, trial #1, it's a link and takes you elsewhere...ok. Think I can accomplish my original goal/object which was to have a page of thumbnails, clickable for size and or links elsewhere. Trial #2 is clickable in that it enlarges, with the caption under it being a link.

So, now I just need to figure how which I prefer. I wanted to learn how to do this for several reason. One was to change pictures on old posts to thumbnails, as I thought that would save space. Figuring I wouldn't hit the max here on blogger as soon. Now though wondering if that actually works? Since the picture is still in it's large format? Which hadn't occured to me when I started this project. Secondly, I wanted a page with all the afghan pictures in one place, with links that would take you to wherever that afghan had been discussed/blogged about. So, it seems one purpose has been accomplished, rather I've learned how to do it. The maxing out on picture space allotment here on blogger, is still unclear. Has anyone hit their max? If so how did you deal with it?

Actually had planned to show you A Day at the Beach finished today; but didn't quite make it. Came close last night, so plan to finish it up today and will share it on Sunday in my Year of Projects Post.

Happy Friday all, dark here, looks like were in for an all day rain.

He went to Jared's

I really don't watch much TV, but since I named this afghan GemStone, the commercial saying, "He went to Jared's", popped into my brain. Above are some donated squares I put together. Debated about what color to use...was leaning towards the off white/ivory edging and joining, then when checking my stash, noticed I had a blue on hand that seemed to be a shade that blended well with the 3 shades of blue in the ghans squares...so started counting and realized 10 of the 30 squares, 1/3rd of them were in fact blue. Decision made. Next decision, did I have enough of this one particular blue to edge, join, and border? Maybe, but if I didn't edge them, I certainly had enough. It's been years since I've not edge squares to join; but since these were all the same size squares (which often they aren't)...I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Comes together much faster when you're not edging each squares. I tied them all together at the corners with scrap yarn and starting crocheting them together, first horizontally then vertically. Added the border. I had very few tails to work in, as I worked them in as I crocheted it together.
It was a cold ugly day, one to stay indoors. I assembled this ghan in one day. I've never put one together so quickly. So, the question is, what do you think....putting it together without edging? Showing a flip of the backside as well. I probably won't have the opportunity to do this often, as typically the squares I put together come from different people, are different sizes, and different type of squares, but.........sometimes, like this they are the same style and size and are donated by one person; so it's a possibility. The other consideration is, size. There were enough of these squares I was able to put together to make a nice size adult afghan that I didn't feel I needed to edge to enlarge the ghan; often I'm not putting together as many squares, or the squares are smaller and so edging increases the overall size of the afghan.

Love some input on this folks. This is another afghan donated for Project, "Welcome Home", on Bridge and Beyond. Had hoped to show you the diagonal Buckeye Scarf today, but it's not quite finished for Finished Object Friday...close though. I have been about to about double it's size then the previous post. Perhaps I'll be able to show you it on Sunday for Year of Projects.

No Pink Please, Baby Boy

I'm pleased to say even I can't see the wee bit of pink in this finished afghan/blanket. I posted the process and it's story previously. If you'd like to read about this soon to be born on the streets baby, please click HERE. It measures just over 41 inches square. Not bad for a start with 16 6 inch squares. This will be hand carried by my friend Rae to this expecting homeless couple.

If you're moved, and would like to help, please pop over to my charity blog, Bridge and Beyond. There are many ways to help. The more help we have, the more people we're able to help.

Short and sweet this week folks, many things in the works though.

Friday, already! Ghesh

Got the knitted red and black chunky scarf completed and donated to Bridge and Beyond. Had hoped to have the afghan finished, didn't quite make it; but it should be posted on Sunday for YOP. Thanks for all the suggestion for names for it. Garden Patch, fall foliage, Fall Woods, Woods in Fall, Peas and Carrots, Bountiful Harvest, Autumn Colors, and Autumn Leaves....were the suggestions. I've decided on Bountiful Harvest. Special thanks to hakucho for the idea. When I first designed the ghan I thought fall foliage, as I began working on it, I thought garden patch........I think her idea of Bountiful Harvest combines both of those ideas. It's fall, and it makes me think of picking items from the garden...like pumpkins for example....remember the orange. Anyway, thank you all for the help. Please scroll back one post if you missed it and wonder what I'm rambling about.

AND, special request today please FOF people and others. Could you pop over to today's post on Bridge and Beyond? I'm really in need of opinions about color. Looking forward to your input. Many thanks, happy Friday and happy weekend all.

Asking everyone using on of the linky's to please get rid of your captcha's. The filters for blogspot work great, you really don't need them. Having captcha's AND approving all your comments is doubly un-necessary. The new captcha's are even harder to see then they used to be. Some have seen post this request before...I did for our Sunday YOP, and Wednesday for WIPW. Try it without for 2 wks, I'd be surprised if you'll have any trouble without it.

Red Friday

Red Brick AfghanFinally, folks...home playing catch up and here's a picture of the finished Red Brick Afghan you've seen on work in progress Wed etc. I'm pleased with how it turned out. All the different sizes of squares and rectangles, knitted and crocheted were cemented together with Red. Had thought I'd include some brown, but nixed that idea once I saw it coming together nicely with the red, and once I reviewed my brown available in my stash. This afghan was donated to Bridge and Beyond (my charity blog), through our program, Project "Welcome Home".

Staying with the Red theme, here's the February cloth for my DD for my Cotton Cloth Calendar Challenge. 11 are now done, and in her hands. The only month remaining is March which will be Easter type colors.
side 1 cotton clothSide 1, though since I photographed this I decided to add a bit to the edge and crocheted a couple of rows. It just didn't lay nicely in my opinion.
side 2 cotton clothSide 2 here.

Still apparently focused on Red, though it wasn't really planned that way, lol. Here's the Red Marble Scarf you've seen some of on WIPW.

Red Marble ScarfIt might get donated to Bridge and Beyond too, but it might (haven't yet decided) find it's way into my closet. Been a couple of years since I've made myself a scarf....hum...though I did just recently purchased yarn in Hilton Head (I blogged about it on my Travel blog, check it out) at a really cool yarn shop for a scarf for myself...it's barely started.

Hope you're all keeping busy and finishing up lots of projects. Links for Finished Object Friday in my sidebar. Come join the fun.

**Since writing and scheduling this post, the Red Marble Scarf was added to the donations for Bridge and Beyond. Like I said above, I did just buy some yummy yarn in Hilton Head for myself.

Red Brick now Cemented

Red Brick is now Cemented! That's right, the building of it is complete...cemented together. The afghan measured 56 square before it was blocked and gained about 2-3 inches once it was blocked. Made from many different donated squares of lots of different sizes (some square, some rectangle, some knit, some crocheted); it was pieced together using the whip stitch method and single crochet around the edges. Not the same number of rows of sc, adjustments made to fit it together.

I'm pleased with how this turned out and both hubby and my Dad said they liked it. This afghan has been donated to Bridge and Beyond for Project Welcome Home.

That's it for todays, Finished Object Friday. Link in side bar, which takes you to lots of other interesting FO.

Hum?? apparently,I never got the picture posted, and can't now as I'm not on my home computer. Sorry bout that folks, I scheduled this post to publish and thought I had also posted the picture before we left town. Will have to catch up on posts, pictures and visits on my return.

Feels good to get Projects Finished!

Here's Got Brown as it was designed.
And here's Got Brown Completed, laundered and blocked. I really loved how this ghan turned out. It has already been donated to Homeless Families Foundation through Bridge and Beyond's Operations Welcome Home Program.
I was waiting for Finished Object Friday to share it with you. The donated squares were all crocheted, and I added 2 rows of black edging to all the squares and joined with black using the join as you go method.

This gray shaded scarf is now also complete and has been donated to Bridge and Beyond. If you're not familiar with Bridge and Beyond, it's one of my other blogs, dedicated to helping the homeless through knitting and crocheting. This is simply good old garter stitch. I love how the shades show up nicely. The scarf measures about 7 inches wide and about 70 inches long, should be nice and warm for a man in need.
