Cardiac Collage is coming along, it's growing both in numbers of pieces and size of the pieces. You can see some irregularity in shapes due to some slightly different texture with the various yarns...one problem when you use bits and pieces. But, I think when things are pieces together and playing off each other...then it get's laundered and blocked, it will be alright. I'm enjoying the pieces parts, the mish mosh look to it. The irregularity to it, speaks to cardiac events. (participating in Slow Sunday Stitch, see blog badge in right side bar--yippee, haven't been able to participate for several weeks, and just realized, thought the link is correct and the badge is correct, I've been referring to it as Slow Stitch Sunday...oophs)
I mentioned in my last post (please scroll back if you missed it), things you can use toilet paper rolls for. Mentioned that I had saved several pictures of things that seemed like a good idea to me....but, could only find one (the bird seed thing in the last post). YIPPEE in a totally unrelated file I stumbled onto some of the other pictures I thought I'd saved. And, this is one of them. Depending on where you live, this isn't one you can do much with now...but come next Spring. Now I didn't read the article about this idea, but think...once you start the seeds you could plant the whole roll? Vs having to to try and remove the seedlings? Thoughts??
Been awhile since I've posted about another enjoyable British series or movie. Since I've been able to be a bit more active, less sitting and icing...equates to less watch my ipad. That, and I was out of town for two weeks. I had started watching this several week prior and just now got back to it. Finished watching it last night. Sweet sweet movie. Very enjoyable, but than what's not to like with both Judi Dench and Maggie Smith! Highly recommend this.
For my cross stitching friends. A gift I made long ago for a shower gift. Long enough ago, pre-digital, so this is a scan of a an picture, thus the quality is lacking.
Headway, even if minimal with my drop stitch (elongated garter stitch) shawl. You can see the two cakes of yarn are basically the same colors but different intensities or different levels of how vibrant the colors are. I think it will be an interesting look.........at least I hope so, as the fiber was $$$$$. It's super soft, fingering. The lighter version is BAAH New York, (Island Sorbet) 400yards, (100% SW Merino) the darker version is Swanky Sock 378 yards (10% cashmere, 10% nylon and 80% superwash merino Magpie, a local in the Park City area from my understanding. You can see the pattern beginning to show with small drops, than larger drops...light and dark. You can also the dreaded needles I moan about in the last post, Loops and Threads. See how the cord won't lay flat at all...
And more importantly look at the significant bump where the cords joins the needle. Horrible things. Happy to say it's knitted off those needles onto the wonderful ChiaoGoo.......what a difference. No bump to work over and the cord does NOT coil. Worth paying twice as much. Note to self, that's a mistake you don't repeatl

Looking for Old Sweater Pattern,Knitting Cardiac Collage Afghan, Downloading Problems
Here's Cardiac Collage in it's early stages. This was before adding other colors so things have grown quite a bit from this start. But, this is the start from my hospital sitting, during a cardiac event my husband had. Hopefully the next picture I will be able to show you more. Having some ipad issues and so am using a shared computer and therefore not able to show you the new picture just yet.
This crochet sweater is one I made for my Mother YEARS ago. I loved the pattern and wish I still had it. It had great inset raglan sleeves and ribbed sweater bottom and sleeves. The pattern was well written. I don't know how I lost it, or I sorta think maybe I loaned it and never got it back. It was made with sport yarn. I've posted this once or twice through the years in hopes of someone recognizing the pattern. I've searched antique patterns but haven't had any luck finding it. From memory (almost 100% certain), the picture on the front of the pattern was a pretty mintish green or blue-green. The pattern was I think a Leisure ARts Pattern. One of those single leaflets that opened and had a pattern on the front and the back.
Not a great picture, used phone but was by a window so it's a bit light. You can however see some progress with Cardiac Collage. Since it was small it was/is portable and therefore has come to forefront. I plan to make squares using up odds and ends and then piece them together. The squares with have different numbers of colors, different amounts of shared colors. Truly no symmetry to it. Somehow, the lack of symmetry and predictable pattern seems fitting for cardiac collage (cardiac events are not at all symmetrical).
Haven't watched any good English TV of late, as hubby and I have been involved in other matters. But, I do have a question for you. Have tried to download movies and or tv series from my ipad using my Amazon Prime Membership so that I might watch something while on a couple of long plane rides. I've googled and it appears I should be able to do that. However, I do not see a download option. Google tells me you can watch now, or download...any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Knitting my Way Through British TV
Finished this series a few days ago. It premiered back in 2016 and was a remake of an earlier The Durrell's. Took me some time to get into this series, but am glad I played through. It takes place in Corfu and was re-titled for release in United States as The Durrells oin Corfu.
The scenery alone is a reason to watch this. A good deal of the series was in fact filmed there on the beautiful Greek Island. I found it sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes dysfunctional. I wanted the Mother to knock some sense into her very self absorbed kids......but, I did not know while watching, this was in fact based on a series of books (My Family and Other Animals, Birds Beats & Relatives, and The Garden of the Gods by Gerald Durrell. This series is based on a real family who did indeed live on the island for 4 years. The island had no electricity. They left the island due to troubles when the war broke out. I learned a bit more about the real family, but won't spoil it by saying more.
Watch the series, or read the books and then watch. Gerry, whom I did not like at all in the series, became a well known naturalist and zoologists. So, I guess he eventually grew up...and maybe took a bath.
Yes, I've continued to knit on with Jeweled Lines and it is growing. Finished the turquoise section, added the small gray section and have started the large Amethyst section. We're at about 46 inches thus far. The olive green section is next. Hope to get to that point for the next blog post. This afghan like 99% of those I make will be donated through my blog, Bridge and Beyond, which is dedicated to helping homeless. I'm needing to start another project so I have something small enough to tote with me. This is getting to large and heavy to carry around and work on anywhere but in my chair in the living room.
Progress on the foot went backward for about 2 wks, but I believe we're on the upswing again.
Continuing to work on finding lost classmates for my 50th class reunion.
And to leave you all with a bit of smile........a laugh for the day. Spotted this the other day on Facebook and thought it too good to not share.

Watching Lark Rise to Candleford, Knitting Jeweled Lines Afghan
Jeweled Lines is growing..added green, gold-ish, another small section of green and now back to amethyst. The section of Amethyst I'm currently working on is the half way point. This section will be larger than the other sections and then will do a repeat of what's been done so far. Measures 27 inches at the moment. 10 Inches longer than the last photo.
A bit hard to see the newer sections in the first photo, as I stopped last night without being at the end of a row, so I couldn't lay it out very flat...thus the bunching. Tried this sideways view and believe you can see the addition a bit better. My debate as this point is whether to make the Amethyst section solid, or stop half way through and add another section of the turquoise and the amethyst. Thoughts? I was so worried about having enough yarn I added the dark green and gold-ish. Eyeballing it now, I might have been ok with the amount of yarn I had...but you just don't know when you're winging it.
Lark Rise to Candleford. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. I'm currently in season 4 and highly recommend it. Robert Timmons (2nd from right Brendan coyle was one of my favorite characters Mr. Bates in Downton Abbey. And Mini (Ruby Bentall 2nd from left was Verity Poldark in the Poldark Series). In my next blog post, believe I'll give some thought to ranking these series I've been watching while not very mobile due to my broken foot. I know this series will be very close to the top, if not the top.
If you watched Call The Midwives you probably recognize Nurse Phyllis (Linda Basset) lower left. I am enjoying her more in this role as Queenie.
I have officially been given the go ahead to say good bye to this Ortho Boot! I've been several days now without it. I drove the other day for the first time in months. The bone itself really won't be totally healed for about 4 more months. I can do pretty well indoors, but am to stay away from walking in yards, and un-even terrain. AND, if I know I'm going to be doing substantial amounts of walking I should put the boot on. Will be continuing with PT for another month twice a week, as we work to build some strength and range of motion. I haven't yet gone for a walk, might try around the block today if hubby has time to go with me. It's a process, but am indeed making headway. Thanks for all the good wishes.

Knitting and Watching and trying to eat Light
Jeweled Lines has grown to about double the size from when you last saw it last with the addition of the green and now back to the amethyst. Thanks for the input on the names between this blog and my charity blog, Bridge and Beyond. I like the suggested name of Jeweled Lines, better than the flip of it, which is what I had initially. I'm still not quite sure if this will be enough yarn with adding the green; but as yet.........still can't get to the basement to look further at my stash, so will play through and see what happens. Though I did do some steps today for the first time at therapy...so might be able to soon.
Watched this show, Tulip Fever on Netflix recently. I can't say I would recommend it. It was dark...dark in the way it was filmed (somewhat on purpose I suppose 1634 in Amsterdam), but also a bit dark in it's storyline. It wasn't at all believeable, though the write ups discussed how this was a long awaited film from Harvey Weinstein. That in fact, it took 17 years to come to the screen. First it was released in Germany from what I read in 2017. The right up portrayed how this was a historic event and was expected to be much bigger than it was...........but, doing a bit more research I see The Smithsonian says the primary story about Tulip Fever is in fact NOT true. If you watch it, I'll be interested in hearing if you liked it. Not all reviews were bad. This wasn't a series, it was a movie. So, you can watch it without committing much to do so.
Have been trying to eat light (this was lunch) since my level of activity is soooo much less than normal with the broken foot. Though this past week, I've not done as well as above.

Knitting, Mother's Day Brunch and The Duchess
Here's the start of the next afghan. Though this picture was taken a few days ago so it's grown since then and has one additional color, green. I always name my afghans, but haven't thought of a name for this one yet. This like 99% of all the afghans I made will be donated to Bridge and Beyond, my charity dedicated to helping the Homeless. I think I'm sticking primarily with jewels colors so a name that would convey that is what I'm thinking about. In the past I had one named Crown Jewels, and a 2nd named Jewels. So, am thinking Striped Jewels, Jewel Palette, Lines of Jewels? Lines being stripes? Love some input, which of those 3 named do you like best.....and or do you have other thoughts?
Another Mother's Day picture. This is the lovely brunch Dear Hubby fixed for me including Champagne. Was nice enough (for a while) to sit outside and enjoy our brunch.
Still in my British TV kick while knitting and elevating my foot, or icing my foot. The Duchess. Quite an interesting tale of Georgiana Cavendish, The Countess of Devonshire and how backward women's lives were. It's really good I didn't live in those times, despite loving the history....I fear I would not have done well. The extremes between what was ok for a man and not at all for a women..wow! Menaige a Trois. Georgiana's husband's mistress lived with them a hugh part of their married life, took her meals with them. I do recommend adding this one to your watch list. Believe this was on Amazon Prime.

British TV, World War II, Knitting, and Fashion Icon...
You really have to keep a sense of humor about life. In so doing, some have suggested this could be a new fashion trend, lol. The Ortho Boot, and the hiking boot are as close as I can come to the same height. It causes me to walk lopsided, but would be far worse if I wore a decent looking shoe.......so there you go. (was making my way to plug in my ipad when hubby snapped the shot).
99.9% of my walking is here in the house. Truly not very mobile and since I can't drive anywhere.......have continued to watch shows on my ipad from either Netflix or Amazon Prime. This was a very enjoyable show about strong women in England during World War II.
I watched this one on Amazon Prime. It first aired in May of 2015, and the last episode was May of the following year, 2016. LOVE the period clothing, and the history of how women did so much while men were off fighting. I think it's only been in recent years they've gotten more credit for all they did.
You probably recognize the actress on far right in the first picture and left in the 2nd pictures as Samantha Bond played Rosamund in Downton Abbey. I also read that she played Miss Moneypenny in James Bond during the Pierce Bronson years; though I didn't recognize that.
I'm continuing to work on this afghan, Learning Logs.
And am currently working on what I believe will be the last section. Already thinking about what to work on next. Perhaps I'll start putting this together?
It will take some work to get things to be the right size and fit together.
Though perhaps that's too much up and down as I'm enjoying this series that I started just yesterday.
Anyone watch Home Fires? If you did, were you left up in the air as much as I was at the end. Soooooooo disappointing it was cancelled after that.
Anyone watched The Grand? Takes place in the 1920's in Manchester with lots of lust, greed, and gossip..........AND cool period clothing.

Knitting, Master Piece Theater, Romance and Physical Therapy
Making headway with The Learning Logs Afghan. Have added about 10 sections since the last picture. This afghan has what I call 3 zones. The center...zone 1 where colorwork was done. Knitting with 2 or 3 colors at one time using the slip stitch method. I did this square as a class project.
Zone 2 has lots of texture with the solid colors represented in the color work in zone 1. Zone 3.......is strictly garter stitch to help the whole afghan lay flat, and I continue to use colors represented in zone 1 and 2. Closing in I think. Last I measured it, believe it was about 53-54 inch square. Have probably enough yarn left for 2 more sections. Imagine the finished ghan will be 56-57...maybe close to 60 inches after it's laundered and blocked. The colors are more vivid than the pictures shows. This seems a bit light to me, not sure why. But, if you scroll back to the previous post the colors look more natural to me.
Just finished watching Victoria, on Master Piece Theater. Season one is included with Amazon Prime Membership, but season two requires a membership to Master Piece Theater. I joined and got a 7 day free trial. I was able to watch season 3 of Poldark (see previous post for pictures and info), and then season 2 of Victoria with my 7 day trial. Need to see if there's anything else I want to watch before my free time ends.
This photo seems to show quite a resemblance between the real Queen Victoria and the actress. Was surprised to see this, as other pictures I've seen of Victoria didn't show her to be a very handsome woman. Quite a love story. She and Alfred were very passionate, and their marriage was't really an arranged marriage which is a bit unusual for Royalty.
Started physical therapy yesterday for my broken foot and will be going twice a week for maybe the next 8 weeks. Therapist informed me that the bone I broke is the slowest healing bone in your foot. So, apparently it's good I spent time today updating my watch list for both Amazon Prime and Netflix.

A YEAR in Review
Today is January 1, 2018. Happy New Year to you all. We stayed in last night, had a good dinner, then popped the cork at 12 mn, watched a bit more tv as we were enjoying the bubbly and called it a night. I hope if you were out and about you were safe and warm.
That's the last completed projected, emphasis on the word completed for the year 2017. This knitted afghan wasn't yet laundered or blocked in this picture, thus it's not laying out super nicely. Once blocked it will be added to the donations for the homeless through my blog, Bridge and Beyond.
This afghan was completed just prior to the one above. Was pushing hard at the end of the year to get them done. The center pink was a small square someone had donated to Bridge and Beyond, and I added to it, to make an afghan. It too was laundered, blocked, and donated.
This was a cute ferry garden we saw while traveling in Ireland in the fall. The trip truly being a highlight of the year.
You can talked about Ireland and Scotland without thinking about Castles! WOW and then some. I've posted some, and will continue to post about Ireland and Scotland on my travel blog, Traveling Suitcase. Please enjoy traveling virtually with me.
In some respects this has been a good year, I traveled to Ireland and Scotland, as mentioned above. I returned to a favorite spot, Hilton Head and Park City in Utah for vacations both with hubby, daughter, and girl friends on different trips. I love to travel. But, it's also been a difficult year. I've lost a cousin rather suddenly that took me by shock. Somehow we all think we have endless time and can do tomorrow, or call someone tomorrow. Just isn't always the case.
Politically, I am extremely dishearten by the person occupying the White House when he's not playing golf at one of his private clubs and charging The American Public for it.
I hope 2018 holds some improvements for people suffering from illness.
And tomorrow, will be another day, January 2, 2018
Hope you noticed a new badge I added to this blog to join a blog linky party that focuses on yarn! Oh lovely yarn. Check out the badge upper left, Ginx Craft.

Pick a Project
Good grief, I had no idea it had been so long since I'd blogged here. I knew it was way way over due, just hadn't realized it had been 8 months. NEVER in all my blogging years have I gone so long without blogging. So, this will be a bit of a catch up. Life's been busy. I've kept up with blogging on Bridge and Beyond (My charity blog dedicated to taking care of the homeless), have traveled ALOT, have made walking daily and or going to the gym a big part of my daily routine which has greatly helped my arthritis and reduced my cholesterol level.
The 3 cotton washcloths (knitted), were found when I decided I needed to clean up and organize my project bags. Totally had forgotten I made them. They were donated to Bridge and Beyond. The purple scarf/mobius was also found in a project bag. I'd started it for darling daughter who loves purple. The yarn is called Marbles and it's really soft, and very nice to work with. She decided she'd prefer an infinity/mobius scarf over a scarf scarf . So...
I finished it and she's a happy camper. Worked on it after she came home for Christmas, and had it ready for her when she came home to celebrate my Dad's 90th. Really pays to go through project bags more often. I also found some extra knitting needles that I thought I'd lost. LOL
Started this for her as well with yarn given to her as a Christmas gift from a friend. I think the idea was for her to have yarn to work on something, but it's very very fine fingering weight yarn which she wasn't comfortable with. Frankly, I wasn't thrilled with it either, so she and I decided to use double thickness. The gift yarn is the two darker colors, while in Hilton Head I purchased the pretty lavender to blend with it.
Finished this afghan while in Hilton Head also. One needs lots of yarn and projects for an extended 3 wks vacation. We go in Jan and Feb so it's not beach weather. And it keeps me busy while hubby's enjoying his golf. This afghan was made from donated strips I assembled for Bridge and Beyond. It's called Navajo.
This is Rusty Nail, another ghan I assembled while in Hilton Head. This one from donated squares and rectangles (some knitted some crocheted). It was a bit tedious, in that the sizes varied a lot so some rows have 6 squares, some 7. Both displayed as they were being blocked after being laundered. You might notice the 2 different carpets...we stayed in 2 different locations.
This ghan Dusty Rose also traveled to Hilton Head. I got started on assembling it, but didn't get it completed while there. It's also a mix of knitted and crocheted squares from donations of varying sizes through Bridge and Beyond. Had to spread it out here at home to see what to edge and attach next. This ghan is still in the works, though progress is much farther along then when this picture taken.
AND found this work in progress also in a project bag....not sure I'm overly happy with the way it looks, perhaps thats why it was buried? Will give this some thought to decide whether or not to continue or frog this.
AND....yes I need my head examined, as you see I've purchased more awesome yarn and patterns for more projects. Really....the kit on the left was 65% off, so how could I not order it? The greens are called woodland I think and the yarn with the orange mix is called Fall. Why order just 1 kit when you can order 2 at 65% off? Sorry the yarn on the right and pattern has no picture, it's a triangle type scarf that's called out to me several times, and it was still as good deal at 35% off.
Wish I could tell you that was it for my work in progress projects, but it's not. I know I have a scarf I started for myself a keyhole scarf that I took off the needles (don't know where I left off), and I know there's at least one ghan I started years ago tucked away.........really tucked away, I haven't even found it, but I know it's here.....somewhere. I only worked on project bags in my office, not the ones in the basement. That will have to be another time.
Looking forward to visiting my blog log to see what you all have been up to. Sorry for the length of this post......but after 8 months...what can I say.

Eating Well, Knitting a Shawl
Some time back a variation of this quick and easy meal appeared on Facebook. The pan was turned the other direction, and they used only 3 items (no carrots) in the version posted. They had chicken on one side, potatoes, and green beans. They suggested using canned green beans.......I use fresh when possible. Their presentation wasn't nearly as colorful as the potatoes (white showing) were next to chicken. I suggested for color they flip things around........then the first time I made it I used green beans, carrots, and no potatoes.......typically I didn't cook potatoes with chicken.
It was hit with hubby for taste and with me for ease of cooking it, and cleaning up. One pan, no muss, no fuss. Cook on 350 for 45 minutes covered with foil. Drizzle with Italian dressing. Sometimes I use olive oil and a good balsamic and my own spices.......sometimes I pour Italian Dressing right out of the bottle. Salt and pepper to taste, or use Mrs. Dash........which is what I used in this picture.
By turning over most of the potatoes to show red, stacking beans and carrots, and adding potatoes......you can make it a very complete meal.
Spending lots of time walking (see previous posts), so don't want to spend lots of time cooking and no reason to. I've also put pork chops in this arrangement in place of the chicken. Butterfly chops, cut in half. Not bad flavor, though they come out a little tough.
When you don't spend too much time in the kitchen, you have time for other pursuits.
Like knitting a prayer shawl. Love the green, such a pretty color. I've not used this yarn before, but will be again......love the way it feels and how it slides nicely on the needles. It's Uptown DK anti pilling acrylic.

It's for Me and Mine
Please disregard the scary face, it's not meant to look like Halloween; but the previous face had faded so I attempted to draw one...egads, truly no talent there. This is the completed hood/cowl I've been working on. First I'm pleased to say it fits, which is always a chore for something small enough to fit my child sized head...but I think it needs one more section to be long enough to work well as a hood.
Alternating sections of garter and purl gives you these rolls.
Wearing it as a cowl would certainly keep your neck nice and warm.
Here you can see the side view, the sections, and how stretchy it is; but you can also see how a bit more length on the back to keep the neck warm would be an improvement.
So, this is my first selfish knitting for YOP and it will be warm and stay on, so all in all a successful project. I would add one more section next time I make one though. And for folks with regular adult sized heads I would suggest using larger needles or adding to the cast on. I think the sizing on her pattern is a bit lacking.
Sorta selfish knitting project here is a green kimono style sweater. I say sorta selfish because it's not for my charity as 99.9% of the items I knit and or crochet are. It's for my DD...so while it's not for me, it's for my family. Actually........terribly late. Started this last near years as a belated Christmas present......and as I do far too often put it aside while doing my charity stitching. I am really going to try and get this finished. I'm about 5 inches from finishing the back which is largest piece. I purposely started with the largest piece thinking I'd feel I really had made headway that way.
It's Sunday, what's everyone working on with regard to your YOP list?
I must shift gears and get busy assembling some afghans again too. I've just not been as productive with yarn in recent months, having gotten involved in research for multiple family trees for folks.
