Start, finish and Continue Crocheting and Knitting.

Arapaho Afghan here right after finishing it.  It's being displayed on the sofa in the condo while we were vacationing in Hilton Head.  It traveled from Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina into South Carolina and was worked on all along the way.  This picture is before it was laundered and blocked.  Made from donated stripes through Bridge and Beyond.  Once it's laundered (being done as we speak), it will require blocking and then will be donated to Homeless Families Foundation through my charity, Bridge and Beyond.
This afghan also made from donated strips also made the same journey; though it wasn't assembled in the car throughout the states as Arapaho was.  I started working on this one after we arrived and completed the previous one.  It's in the works here before adding necessary width and prior to being named.
Here it is again, back home in Ohio after the additional inches were added to the width by way of border using the 3 colors shown above.  This has now been named Desert Rose after some voting over on Bridge and Beyond.  This also is in the works of being laundered and blocked.  Believe this one will require pinning even when it's being blocked.  They don't always, but with the wider border on it's edge you note some curling.  I do think the size is better after adding the border and belief it will lay appropriately after some major blocking.

And still in the works, though farther along is Sea and Sand.  You've not seen this one since November.  It now has 2 additional sections done.  Am currently working on the last of the light gray sections.  The light gray sections are the largest sections so I feel like I'm making some reasonable headway.

The first 2 afghans are crocheted from donated stripes, the 3rd afghan is one I cast on quite some back.  Knitting a large feather and fan style afghan does take time.

I've not done anything with the traveling scarf, even though it too made the journey (just as 3 afghans did); nor did I work on my belated Christmas Gift for DD which was noted here on the Love Your Library Post.  It is on my YOP list in the form of something for DD.  Though it turned into a sweater from a scarf.........much bigger project.

YOP meme, badge, and list found in tab above.

Brief summary:
8 of the 10 afghans completed from donated squares/strip
no progress on cotton washcloth or cable skirt for self
no progress on blocking cable scarf and blue scarf
Christmas project for DD changed from scarf (almost done) to Green Sweater, not yet cast on.  Probably going to frog scarf.

Almost Finished

You're not seeing doubles, this is one afghan, though in this configuration it looks like 2.  Almost all the stripes/strips have edged and attached.  Now need to bring the two together.  Just worked with 2 pieces as it's going traveling with me and I thought it might be easier to finish the last couple of stripes were are held together here with double pointed knitting needles and darning needles.

Wanted to get this post written yesterday, for Sunday's Year of Projects, but didn't make it.  Late this week, counters being early last week?  Maybe, maybe not.  This afghan is made from donated strips through Bridge and Beyond and will be donated to Homeless Families Foundation when completed.  Hopefully, I can unveil the finished ghan for you on Friday for Finished Object Friday.  This one is called Arapaho.

Not much to report, but hope to work more on the knitted feather and fan, Sea and Sand after this one is completed, and plan to unknit the traveling jewel scarf...it's just coming through for me.

Pop back in tomorrow for a new meme called Library....sounds interesting to me, if I can get myself rolling on another meme.

Sandy Hook Families

Here's Box of Crayons in it's next phase.  Only 6 squares left to edge, 3 rows already joined, and other corners tied together at the ready stage for joining.  This afghan should be completed and begin it's journey to a grieving Sandy Hook family very soon.  The idea for assembling comfort ghans comes from a blogging friend (and one who donates regularly to Bridge and Beyond, Marie Anne (check out her group on Facebook Hands, Hearts and Hugs; the squares were donated to Bridge and Beyond. **Edited Dec 28th, squares are on HOLD for Marie Anne's group.  Sandy Hook has asked that people please stop sending gifts etc.  The future of her group is not yet determined.  This afghan will be donated to Project Welcome Home, here on Bridge and Beyond........the original intent of the squares.

When people come together in the benefit of others, the end result is heart-warming.

This post is a day late for our Sunday, Year of Progress.  Links in tab across the top of the page.

Things here have busy, as no doubt things are in your house.  Darling Daughter spent the bulk of yesterday wrapping all the presents, both those she's giving as well as those from Hubby and I.  She's quite good at that and does a nicer job of it then I do.  Thank You Christine.  Hubby and I spent about 3.5- 4.0 hours making egg casseroles for the family.  When we gather tonight for the family Christmas Eve Celebration there will be I think 21 of us...a few less then Thanksgiving.  Everyone takes egg casseroles home for their family breakfast/brunch Christmas Morning.  It's quite a production, 8 pounds of sausage, 3 dozen eggs, 2 sandwich loafs of bread, 3 pounds of cheese, gallon and half of milk,  full container of diced onions, almost full container of Mrs. Dash, lots of foil, and foil pans.  In addition to those in the family, I made a couple of casseroles for neighbors.  I don't bake Christmas cookies.

Peace and Goodwill to all.
Safe Travels to everyone traveling to be with loved ones, and please keep those who can't be with loved ones in your hearts.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Buckeye Blitz Completed

Days almost over, but am finally getting this post written.  Buckeye Blitz is completed, has been; but I was delayed in getting the post up.  It's Sunday, year of projects post time.  WOW

Like most of you, life's so busy this time of the year.  Work is always extra busy during December; or at least up until now.  Sigh of relief.  Finally got the house all decorated for Christmas and am looking forward to our Daughter coming home for Christmas.  We've got girl stuff planned, like hair appointments and massages.  We both enjoy doing that together.

Buckeye Blitz is another afghan I've assembled from donated squares through Bridge and Beyond and is the 5th of 10 on my list to be made from donated squares.  Haven't worked lately on Sand and Sea (the knitted feather and fan ghan), have knitted quite a bit on my traveling jewel scarf; but........am thinking about frogging it.  All of sudden I'm not in love with it.

Columbus, Aruba, Cleveland and back

Isn't it loverly!  Sigh, much more un-knitting got done then knitting, or perhaps that's not true.  The same amount of knitting followed by un-knitting got done.  This awesome yummy yarn is soooooooo soft, so pretty, so shinny.  It's to become something for my DD who LOVES purple.  It's Berroco Bunsai.  Bamboo and Nylon, mostly Bamboo 97%.  Not sure what my problem was, but I couldn't keep count.  Finally after the 2nd try realized the pattern wasn't quite right and tweaked it and figured that would do it.  And it would, if I could have concentrated.  Perhaps getting up at 4am to depart the airport and head for Aruba was the problem.  I was both sleepy and excited.  So....really nothing to show you.  Then I left my bag with my counter, pattern, stitch markers, and scizzors in the seat back in front of me when I disembarked.  ARGH.  I've never done that, left something behind.  Apparently this project was doomed, truly so.  I don't even remember the name of the pattern so...at some point I'll look again and hopefully manage to pull it off.  I also lost a different size needle from my Denise set in the bag.  As I had 2 sizes to work on different projects during the flight.  Sometimes, you just need a change.  After all, the first flight was 4 hours, followed by 1.5 hours in the 2nd leg.  This is named as project for Christmas for DD on the year in progress list.

This was started on the way home from Aruba on the flight.  Something much simplier was in order I thought, plus I needed to go with the size needle I had on hand.  I LOVE LOVE this yarn and the colors.  It's Mochi Plus, Crystal Palace Yarn, 80% Merino Wool and 20% Nylon.  It's lovely to work with, slides so nicely and is soooooooooo soft and light weight; but will be warm with that amount of wool.  Just blocks of different sizes of good olde garter and sections of stockinette stitch....just wanted a bit of texture.  The yarn is so lovely, not sure much detail is required.  This could perhaps become an object for Christmas for DD.  So, am naming this "Traveling Scarf".  It went from Aruba to Columbus via plane, and Cols to Cleveland and back via car.

And while, I've not shown you Sea and Sand in awhile, I have made progress.  When I last posted a picture HERE, I was working on the brown variegated section.  Finished that and the larger light grey section and am now on the next variegated section.

Hoping I can get one more row with these current variegated then will do one more section of the light grey, variegated and then the dark grey...soooooo feel like I've really turned the corner on this.

I've been busy and haven't blogged as much, missed lots of WIPW, FOF, and YOP post.  Hopefully, I'll be seeing you all more.  I was out of town for an extended time.  I was enjoying the Aruba weather as the title suggests.  Sadly though, my friend in Cleveland had a huge tree fall on her house, thus the trip there.  Not that I can do much, but hubby and I wanted to provide some moral support for a long time friend.

Sneezing, Stitching Sea and Sand on Sunday

Debated whether or not to bother with a picture of Sea and Sand. Wasn't sure you could tell I'd made some headway....I've lost track of my original ideas (there have been too many) in terms of the layout and the number of colors to use etc. The light blue variegated you see on the right side between the 2 sections of light gray was suppose to be the middle in which case I could happily say I'm working on the 2nd half. I've measured it again........not going to get the job done. Which means I need to go hunting again through my stash to see if I have something I can use after this currently light gray to be the middle ---double check and make sure I've got enough light gray to do 2 more sections after the middle before I can carry on with the plan. Bother.

Been sneezing up a storm of late. These allergies are killing me. I gave in and went to the Doctor the other day, something I rarely do but, I wasn't getting any relief from my current meds. He changed things up; though I can't tell if I'm making any headway or not. A big part of my job is talking to a room of people explaining what we're doing (I'm called a moderator). I've been hoarse for a week, making my job very difficult. That's also added strain to my voice, probably making me even more hoarse. The repetitious nature of my job...sometimes I'll do that as often as every 45 minutes and then a new group of people come in. Add to that working my hours then normal, with even more slated for next week. I'm pretty worn out.

Been trying to get back in the swing of wearing my pedometer to work to count my steps again. I do well for awhile then poof I find I'm not doing it again. Sigh. As I look at the pedometer from Thurday it reads, 11,443 steps which converts to 4.339 miles. Forgot to clear it and wear in on Friday. And thus I m tired.

Sunday, Squares no More

Surprised? Probably not, another afghan. A few YOP post ago I talked about needing to put away the feather and fan afghan (Sea and Sand) to work on something else. At the time I said that, was really thinking smaller projects. Well, guess not. This afghan is called Summers End. It's made from donated squares through Bridge and Beyond, my charity blog. I used a variegated tan and off white, (though I think it's just look solid) to do the edging and joining. It's drying here in the picture after being laundered. No huge need for blocking, but I do like to wash them all and tug/coax them a bit into proper shape while they'll dry. Also helps smooth out the various changes square to square and the actual joining seem.

Now, I wonder....where did I leave of with Sea and Sand? I don't remember, sure hope I put my counting card with it so I can properly pick up where I left off. **Edited to add....I did not. Picked up Sea And Sand last night. My counter was there indicating 4. Memory tells me it was a 4 row repeat and therefore I should start with row 1. Have looked around quite a bit without finding my index card where I had it jotted down. Will do some looking on RAV and see if I can or remember the particular one I was using.

Happy week to one and all. YOP badge and link in sidebar. Updated list in the tab across the top of the blog.

Late for a Very Important Date

Late to post, late to visit, behind in knitting and crocheting...(though I do have something to show you if you keep reading that involves yarn). Since I've been so late I missed 2 weeks, I'm posting this one early. (YOP badge and link in sidebar)

You've no doubt since this in my side or on Facebook or others blogs. Superpoints, a place to shop, clip coupons, play games, watch video's, do surveys and spin for lucky bonus points. Convert your points in to a gift card and or money. I convert mine into Amazon Gift Cards to help buy
these school text books. Used school text books for kids in need at my Darling Daughters school. This picture represents over $700.00 in used text books, and only takes care of 1 student. To date, I've donated $100.00 in Amazon Gift Cards towards this cause, and I believe my Darling Daughter's earned 70 ish? I've forgotten what she told me.
Have made good headway on this afghan since the picture (which was taken in order to do last weeks post.......see how behind I am). This afghan is for Bridge and Beyond and is called The End of Summer. When this is completed, which I hope will be soon...I hope to get back to Sea and Sand Ghan.

I've not made much headway on my list for YOP, but hope to in the near future. Join us and see what everyone is up to. (A plea to all my YOP friends, would you please please please, purdy please get rid of the captchas's on your blog. Many of you also use approvals, in which case you're doing double and really don't need the captcha's. AND, with the blogger filters you really don't need them, even if you're not using approvals. It soooooooooo slows down visiting. Most have to be done 2 or 3 times because they aren't readable).

Sunday

Well, it's Sunday again. The first day of the week, though it always seems like the last day of the week to me.

YOP...not much going on there. I did finish my cable scarf, photo HERE. Fairly pleased with that, but don't think I'm yet ready to begin the cable skirt I want to make myself.

Feather and Fan Afghan, Sea and Sand is in slow motion. Or at least it seems that way to me. I don't feel like I'm making the headway I was there for awhile. Thinking, I need to start something else to get a fresh start and come back to it with more energy! We'll see.

No new pictures, the couple of rows completed since you saw the last piece....just not worth it, you wouldn't be able to tell any difference.

Been busy spinning to help earn points to convert to amazon gift cards in order to be able to purchase school text books for kids without. Read about it Here.

Thrilled to report Bridge and Beyond is listed in a recently published book, "Crochet Saved my Life".

Sea and Sand Progresses

Sea and Sand may not look like it's larger when last you saw it; but...it is. The light gray section is complete (and is the largest section of the afghan), the next variegated section is almost complete. It traveled with me (in my suitcase, too big for the carry on) to Utah and back this past week.

Sorry I missed last week's YOP post, just couldN'T get it done from the hotel. We had spotty internet coverage for several days. And, we didn't spend much time indoors .

We were vacationing in Park City, Utah. Will be adding blog post to Traveling Suitcase too, feel free to visit.

This is a YOP post, badge and links in sidebar. Please join us, as travel together throughout the year helping and learning from another.

**Asking a favor folks, could you slide back a post. It's been awhile since I've done assigned blogging and am getting back into it. Could you help with some readership/support/comments, please and thanks**

Sunday, Let's Start at the very Beginning

sound of musicLet's start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with ABC
When you sing you begin with ...

You get the picture. And so today we begin with yarn, hooks, needles, patterns and ideas galore on our 2nd year of Year of Projects. Note the new fancy badge in the side bar. New Tab will be added for year 2.

Year one tab will still be available for awhile on the blog. It reminds me what I did and didn't accomplish. I did make 15 afghans (assembled them from donated squares); though I had 4 others that were on list.

I had 2 goals, accomplished one, removed one from the list. Heck, batting in the majors I'd be batting 500, so that's not to shabby.

I made a half dozen items that weren't on my list.

So, this years list will start off a bit more simple.

My Afghan Goals:
To complete 12 afghans from donated squares
Complete Candy Corn Afghan (longest work in progress project EVER)
Finish the Feather and Fan Afghan (knitted), that finally has a name, Sea and Sand

The goal accomplished last year, learn to cable. I want to make a skirt for myself using this new skill. Need to re-find the pattern for starters.

I want to make time for working on items other than the above afghans. I kept so busy with those last year, many other wanted projects didn't happen.

Cast on....I know there are other methods beyond the traditional one I always use. I get all tangled up when I try to do the thumb one and so ....do it old school...the long slow way. Would like to learn another faster cast on.

I have a knitting machine, haven't used it in over a year. In fact removed it from my office in order to make room for my antique Treedle Singer Sewing Machine. Would like to set up a space in the basement and use it some again for accomplish quick things for charity, Bridge and Beyond.

superpoints badgeSome of you have noticed this button in the sidebar and or in my previous post. But, thanks to this Superpoints membership, I have now been able to turn this needle mess

needle messInto this!
2 needle holdersLook how nice and organized. I've attempted to label the needles with size and length (click to enlarge and see little white rings on the right hand pouch). I'm going to explore further ways to label and so have these 2 pouches organized with interchangeables on the left (Denise) and Turbo's and other circulars in the right.

rolled needle organizersWOW, that's quite a difference. All together, organized and taking up less space. No more searching. Thank you Superpoints. I earned points by joining, by spinning the lucky wheel, by watching video's and by doing surveys. I converted my points into Amazon gift cards and shopped for my needle holders. Thus far, I've earned $30.00 worth, have spent $25.00 and am very close to earning another $5.00 gift card. Click on the botton and join, you'll start earning points as soon as you fill out your profile and verify your email addy. I suggest you use a separate email account to keep things separate from your personal or business email.

Happy Year 2 of Year of Projects.
And....I'm still working on the feather and fan afghan, which now has a name, thanks to a comment previously...Sea and Sand.

Sunday, Sketchy Internet

This is the 2nd to last YOP post for this year. Realistically, I've knitted so little in the last couple of days, seems no point in taking, editing, and posting another picture. The only thing I've been working on is my Feather and Fan Afghan. If I get some good knitting time in from now til this time next week....I might, hopefully get it done to get one more thing marked as done on my list.

There are 2 other afghans still listed, which were designed before I got the idea for this Feather and Fan Ghan; but ...I had done lots of crocheting, and those 2 ghans are pieces donated squares together. Not something I can take and go, something I really need to be here to work on. I was a bit tired of crocheting, wanted to knit, wanted a take a go item...and so shifted my focus.

I believe I'll just add those afghans to the start of next years list. I plan to organize it a bit differently. Wish I had done better on this years list. I removed more items then I'd like to admit to as this point. Though I did add items to take their place.

Hope you all have enjoyed working through your YOP lists, it's fun seeing everyones lists, progress, and being with such nice and supportive cheerleaders.

I will try my best to visit everyone, but...as you can see from the title, I'm having issues. These past 2 days, the internet hasn't played nice. I thought at first it was a particularly webpage (Superpoints...see badge in right sidebar), but it wasn't. Then I wondered if it was google as my gmail was dog slow...thought they were making more unwanted changes. But, today, hubby was also having trouble on his laptop. So if 2 different computers, using 2 different browsers (he used Int. Explorer and I use Mozilla FireFox), are having issues..........it's not the webpages, it's not the computers. I even did a full scan yesterday and clean up on my computer. Called the cable folks this am after resetting my router. Seems we're not getting full power/connectivity on all lines. They say they'll send someone out, but after being on the phone for 20 minutes, they tell me they have no openings for the whole week! Wow, that's lousy service. They gave me a claim file number and are passing the issue of no openings up to their superiors...who are suppose to call me and get this taken care of. So, sadly looks like I'll get behind trying to earn my points, visit and blog til they get this resolved.

So, please bear with me as I attempt to do my blog visits. Happy Sunday one and all.

YOP Badge and link in right sidebar.

And because I like photo's, please enjoy the flowers. I love flowers, these orange Lilies are from my backyard.

Better late then Never

I'm late, I'm late...this post was suppose to be typed and up yesterday. Sorry folks. This is my Sunday YOP post which is a day late. You can see I'm more progress with the afghan. You can see a couple of rows of the next tweedy color mix. Continuing to explore and think of options in completing this afghan. Found a wee bit more of the gray and am trying to figure out how much yardage I have with the one skein of the tan....I might be able to go with just those 2 colors and the 6 tweedy's. The Red Heart Skeins don't give yardage.

One this color section is done, I plan to get started on Sand Box Afghan to mix a bit with the crocheting time and the knitting time.

Hope you're all enjoying the weather and the end of the school year stuff. No little ones here, just remember that as being an eventful time of the year.

Happy stitching.

Moving on to Plan B

Plan A, was to use the 6 donated skeins of tweeds with the medium grey yarn I had in my stash in stripes. Apparently my memory failed me here. I thought I had 5 or 6 skeins of this grey...I don't. I only had 2. Must have used them previously and forgot. Had this yarn a really long time, plus don't believe the Caron Wintuk is even made any longer. Soooooooooo, I have plenty of the light grey, but....it's not really the right shade to pull it off solo...is it? I could use it with stripes and end, as I began with the darker grey? Or I could really go strippy (leaning this direction currently); with other colors that pick up on some of the colors in the tweeds. 2nd problem is.....the Caron Wintuk felt a bit heavier to me then regular WW, even though that's how it's labeled, and the 6 skeins of tweedy yarn is labeled chunky. Soooooooooo, now the yarn I'm thinking of pulling in will be a variety of types/weights and welllllllllllllll, hope it all comes together.

I think I need to go hunting through my 2 large bags of blue stash to see if I have a shade or two that works, lots of blue in the tweeds-- and blue and grey always go together in my book. So this afghan in the works has just gone from a planned out ghan to a let's see what happens as it progresses. I will be adjusting as I go. Each time I knit a section of the feather and fan afghan, I'll decide what comes next based on how it looks. With all the colors in the tweedy yarn I think I'm going to need to see it to decide.

AND, I have officially changed my year of projects list in the tab to take off learn to knit socks, and removed Candy Corn Ghan. I've added 2 afghans to assemble for Bridge and Beyond, and this Feather and Fan...which needs a name. Unsure at this point if this one will be donated to Bridge and Beyond or be an item to be auctioned off where the money would then be donated to a shelter. Will decide when I see how it turns out.

On Friday, I finished another cotton washcloth, that wasn't on the list. You can see it if you scroll back to previous post.

YOP badge and link in sidebar, list above in tab, and am contemplating next years list.

Enjoy your long weekend all, but do take time to give thanks to those brave men and women who serve in our military, past and present.

Today is Sunday

Sand Box Afghan Design
Retro Afghan DesignToday is Sunday, you know what that means?
We're gonna have a quest today,
Sweep out the cobwebs
So the welcome can be seen.

Actually believe it was Tuesday, quest star day I'm thinking about, and am remembering bits of pieces of the song The Mouseketeers used to sing. The "real" Mouseketters that is. And give out a hip ho ray, and wiggle your ears, like good mouseketeers cause Tuesday is Quest Star Day. Anyone else as old as dirt, like me and remember it? The did a dance with brooms in hand and some part of it was opening and closing doors...I hear the music and see it happening on the old black and white bubble t.v....in my mind saying...sing songy Today is Sunday and this silly old thing popped into my head. lol

It's Sunday and what that really means is, time to update the Year of Projects listing and do some blog visiting. It's been a very hectic week, so very little knitting has been done. I did manage to finish another cotton washcloth (posted it on FOF, scroll back 1 post to view it). I started a 2nd one with the left over cotton (forgot I wanted to weigh what I had left to determine if I had enough), eye balling the cloth and what I have left, I think I need to add another color in the middle and maybe have enough of the cotton to end with. Gonna play through. This isn't on my list, in fact the last several projects haven't been.

So, I'm making a change to my list...I'm deleting learning to make socks from my goals list. Truth is...I'm simply not going to do it, others things need my attention. I do think I'll slid it on to next years list though. AND, the longest work in project ever......Candy Corn Ghan, might meet the same fate. I'm just feeling the love. However, for the time being am leaving it in limbo, in that I'm not yet removing it from the list. Officially that would be the last specific item on my list; but...the afghans I assemble for Bridge and Beyond is continuous so that really never gets done.

I'm having some indecision, jump in please and thanks with your opinions. I have lots of yarn, there is no good reason to buy more, so try always to use the yarn on hand when I assemble. In the thinking stage is on above ghans. First one I'm calling Sand Box, the 2nd one Retro. I have lots of this yarn.
brown variegated yarnI have a bit less then in the picture, as some was given away in the last contest on Bridge and Beyond; but certainly enough to edge and join either, perhaps even both. Does it work? I don't want to purchase dark brown or turquoise and don't have enough to do retro...and can't quite decide if it would work better on Sand Box?

Happy Sunday, Year of Projects tab has full list. Badge and url in right sidebar. Am beginning to formulate next years, as this year officially ends June 30th.

Mothers Day

Thank You Darling Daughter! This Mothers Day Edible Fruit Arrangement came early yesterday morning. Had some yummy fruit with my morning coffee. Likewise again this morning. Miss you and wish we weren't so far away; but am looking forward to our upcoming vacation in Park City so we can spend some time enjoying each others company. My Blue Lace is finished! Finished it last night, and it's almost cool enough to want to wear it today on my day, Mother's Day. This is my first true lace, in that it's not worsted weight yarn and it involved more then some of my attempts leading up to this. I had some trouble with the K2tog, until someone on Ravelry suggested pulling down a bit or up with the needle before inserting the needle. Nice tip! I changed needles a couple of times previously trying to make the K2tog's work easier. This was knit on size 8, using 1 skein of 215 yards of Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50% and 50% Laine Wool) from Peru. Fabulous yarn. It's 3 ply, hand washable. I usually don't bother with blocking a scarf, but perhaps I should to see the design a bit more? It's a Feather and Fan pattern, which I think would make a wonderful afghan.

This photo is my attempt at being a bit more artsy...didn't work too well, in that the blue looks a bit washed out to me. As I was finishing this up last night, was thinking about My Mother who's been gone now for 3 Mother's Day's. She's the one who taught me to know, back in the day. I made a little scarf, head scarf that she crocheted an edge and ties on. It was very rudimentary, but I was so proud of it. All these years later, the gift she gave me is still making me happy. It's an awesome gift and memory Mom, I Love and Miss you. (memories of MOM)

***This blue feather and fan is one more completed item on my year of projects list, badge and link in sidebar. For full list, please see YOP Tab

Bouncing my Beach Ball

Beach Ball is finished! Right now it's bouncing around in the washer and will soon be laid out and blocked. Here it measures about 49 inches, but will grow probably 1-2 inches during blocking.

I used the Winter White and the pink in multiple rows around the edge and was thrilled to find the right color of turquoise in my stash to add several rows of it to the border...finishing with a fluffy ruffle.

My check my designed stash to see what afghan to work on next. As always, this afghan will be donated to Homeless Families Foundation through Bridge and Beyond.

I've continued to work on my blue lacy (feather and fan) scarf also. Making wonderful headway with it, though may put it aside and switch to something else for awhile.

Hubby and I had a lovely Easter Brunch with my 2 brothers and their wives, and my Dad today. Hope you all had/have a wonderful Easter Sunday. Sun's out bright, and I would like to take a bike ride, but believe it's too windy for my legs to push against it.

Sandy's Sunday Projects

Beach Ball isn't finished, but it's close. I had hoped to finish it yesterday; but took time out for yard work. Only one more seam needs to be crocheted before I start the border. Ratted around in my stash this am to see if I had turquoise yarn...yippee, found a partial skein that matches. Needed to see what I had before I could decide on the type of border. With any luck at all, I'll finish this today. Maybe even get it laundered so I can lay it out to block.

Please to say, I also made headway (about double I think) with my Blue Feather and Fan Scarf. This is the yarn, by the way that I had started several scarves with some time back. It was in fact on the list, then got removed and replaced with a green scarf I made for my darling daughter........so, quess I'll add Awesome Blue Scarf back on the YOP list.

Doubt much will get done this week on anything involving yarn. A very long work week awaits me. Happy stitching one and all. YOP updated list in the tab across the top of the blog, and badge and link for YOP linky party in the right sidebar.

Thinking Sunny on Sunday

A Day at the Beach, finished. Just needs to be laundered and blocked. Currently measures about 45 inches square and should grow a little once it's blocked. I ratted through my stash, was about 99% certain I had some of that variegated yarn, sorta remembered making something with it some time back. Bingo...I had one ball, partial skein and was able to edge it with 2 rows of sc. The aqua in my stash is close in shade, just not exact; though I believe it works given the winter white in between the squares and the aqua stripe. This should make a suitable size and color afghan for a little girl and or a teen/adult female a as lapghan. Homeless Families Foundation will put this in someone's Welcome Home package. If you're new to my blog, you might not know about that. When a homeless family moves from the shelter into permanent housing, they're given a Welcome Home Package. The afghans are to welcome them home, give them hope for the future, and to congratulate them on moving ahead to the next and important phase of their lives.
A bit of a close up so you can see the variegated yarn. I edge each square wsith 2 rows of double crochets, crocheted the squares together in a continuous row, then edge the whole afghan with another row of double crochet, switched then to the aqua for 2 rows of single crochet, followed by 2 more rows of double crochet with the white, and ended with 2 rows of single crochet with the variegated. So, was able to add quite a bit of size to the 7 ish inch squares. When doing the single crochet edge I wasn't sure I had enough to do 2 rows, switched to a smaller hook for the last row, which I believe made all the difference...ended up with less then 2 feet of yarn. Whew, close call.

Still thinking beach, summer, fun, and sun.........this afghan is titled Beach Ball. I've begun edging. The hot pink squares are larger then the others so am adding 1 row of sc in white; adding one row of dc in pink to all other squares followed by a row of sc white. When they're edged, I'll remeasure to determine whether or not to join at that point or add some more for size.

Since last week's YOP post, the only changes are what you see...the completion of another ghan, and the start of another. Both to be donated through Bridge and Beyond's Project, "Welcome Home".

Diagonal Buckeye Scarf Done

Diagonal Buckeye Scarf Done! This scarf was started as a Christmas gift, didn't get it finished. Project layed aside, without notations about where I was in the pattern. Argh. Thank you Chris, fellow blogger for coming to my rescue. After the project being dormant and or my work in progress list for far too long.........I used Chris's directions and was able to pick up where I left off. Finished it last night. I did have some issues with adding a couple of extra stitches here and then, then lost a few...though it's not real noticeable...even to me and I know it's there. I like the diagonal slant, I need a new scarf..........maybe I'll keep this one? Would be good to wear to The Ohio State Football Games, maybe.........I'll donate it, maybe...........I'll hold onto it for awhile and decide. Juries out. I have a scarf barely started for myself with luscious mohair...hum....

Anyway, successfully got this project moved from wip list to the FO list. Since last Sunday's post for YOP post this is the only completed project; though 2 more afghans for Bridge and Beyond are in the works. Since the start of our list (see tab on top of the blog for updated and ongoing list), these 2 afghans, Day at the Beach and Blue Jazz make ghans #13 and #14. Stay tuned, perhaps I'll unveil them as there's a bit more to see.

I'm really needed to pull out Candy Corn Ghan as the longest running wip I've ever had....just not motivated.
