Pink Lollipops in the beginning.
Oriented differently due to the bed size (twin). All squares edged to equalize sizing and tied ready to be joined.Drying, click to enlarge to see the little scalloped edge. The pictures for this ghan somehow ended up in the wrong folder on my computer, so not sure how long ago I made this one, but think it was last December. So, a bit late sharing with you.Two beautiful bouquets from my Darling Daughter for Mothers Day.
I thought maybe the florist had made a mistake when 2 boxes came, but she says no. First one is displayed in the living room, and 2nd in the bedroom. Aren't they gorgeous! Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day filled with love.
Some signs I've seen posted on social media around the country at various protests. I thought they were worth sharing. People are quite creative in their contempt for the many horrific things that have happened so far under this administration. An interesting read, though not my favorite Ann Patchett book. Lots of food for thought about the secrets of scientist living on the dime of drug companies doing their research in dangerous and unhealthy conditions in the Amazon. Who's beholden to who? Lots of mystery as this story unfolds.
The build up to the Civil War. Once Lincoln was elected the turmoil started. Some wanting war, some not wanting war, some thinking they could just vacate the union without consequences. Inner turmoil, Major Robert Anderson a slave owner himself, but loyal to the union. Big Ego's of too many men and the mistakes made that caused the worst war our country ever fought ....in terms of the death toll and the families torn apart fighting on opposite sides. Highly recommend this book.
Mary Trump, the Felon's only niece is a highly qualified psychiatrist who explains how we're all suffering from PSTD from the 4 years of Donald J. Trump. AND things are so much worse now, as this book was written about his first term. She also discusses how we've got to come to grips about the things purposely done during and after slavery to keep an entire race down. A very good read, put this on your list.
Back to my World War II genre, this book tells the story of 2 extremely different women who were war correspondents. One is a follower, one a very strong woman. One pushes Nazi propaganda. Add this one to your list.Stats are down on all fronts from March, steps are down 253,997 for an average of 8,466 per day, Miles down 105.72 for an average of 3.5 miles per day. Only 4 planks done for the month and likewise only 4 leg lifts. Where did the month go? Geesh. I know I had a couple of appointments, and a couple of travel days, but still a very disappointing month. Reporting this and I'm 12 days into May, which aren't looking better. Must see what I can do the remainder of the month to bring things up a bit.Spotted this t-shirt on Facebook, saved the image as I think it says it all.
Love those pink blocks. You are really getting lots of those squares made into blankets.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes I really have made one after another, trying hard to use up all the stash of squares and yarn stash. Chipping away.
DeleteYour afghans are so beautiful. Thanks for the listing of books. I'll have to check some of them out. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill, appreciate your kind words. Let me know if you read any of the books what you think.
DeleteThe pink Lollipop afghan is a beauty. Those scalloped edges are such a nice finish💗. Your Mother's Day bouquets are so pretty. You are doubly blessed.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I thought the scalloped edge added alot as well. Some afghans do, some don't. I am indeed doubly blessed.
DeleteThose bouquets are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you, am really enjoying them.
DeleteLot is going on in the world.
ReplyDeleteToo much is going on, hard to keep up and each day I think it can't get worse; yet it seems to. Sad, truly sad about the state of things.
DeletePink lollipop is lovely, Sandy, as are all your afghans. You are one of those good people doing good things, I think. The ones we never hear about, but who are all making a difference and being kind. People who work for charities, people who support charities, people who help other people, people who help animals, the list goes on. It is good to think that there are lots of people doing their bit to make the world a better place.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
Your sweet comments make me smile. Thank you so much. The world is a mess right now, so we have to keep trying as best we can to keep our heads above water and help those less fortunate.
DeleteA very good read Sandy. Thanks for all you do. I once again leave applauding.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the applause.
DeleteBeautiful bouquets from your daughter for Mother's Day. Newest blanket colour fits perfectly with the roses.
ReplyDeleteI know, I had to laugh as I was posting the pictures about how the colors in the afghan and the bouquets matched up.
DeleteI LOVE PINK!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bouquets are lovely.
And as always, thank you for sharing.
Carla
Lots of pink in this post for sure! Thank you.
DeletePink Lollipops is so pretty! Love the scalloped edging. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandie, I think some ghans call for a scalloped edge, others don't.
DeletePink Lollipop is beautiful! So are the flowers - what a sweet daughter!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mari, she really is a very sweet daughter.
DeleteCrochet is pretty in pinks. The flowers are beautiful, lucky getting two lovely bunches..
ReplyDeleteInteresting the placards on Trump, he certainly has caused a stir in most countries.
He caused much more than a stir, I worry how we'
Deletell all come through this. So many people horribly affected. I'm enjoying both bouquets, hope they last quite a while.
Your Pink Lollipops afghan is lovely! That's so interesting that you tie the squares together before joining them.
ReplyDeleteBy tying the squares together I don't have to keep checking I have the right square to come next and can attach a whole row at the same time vs piece meal.
DeleteBelated Happy Mother's Day, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteI stand with Israel too. Their population never wanted any of this. (They just have a sh*tty leader like us Americans.)
They do have a shitty leader. Thought they were going to get rid of him a few years ago; but then he came back.
DeleteHope you had a happy Mother's Day! The flowers from your daughter are so beautiful! Mine got me a professional carpet cleaning haha! Your pink blocks are coming along great! Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteMy carpet needs cleaning, or pulled up and replaced, lol. Hope you also had a nice Mothers Day.
Delete...Sandy these can be ugly days, I'll just focus on your needle work and flowers. Seek the beauty.
ReplyDeleteThese are indeed ugly days Tom. Trying hard to seek the beauty and still stay informed; but somedays....it's truly not easy. Thanks for the visit.
DeleteLooking good pink lollipops. I can say the same about the flowers. They are lovely. Thanks for the book recommendations and take care.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr. Shife, much appreciated.
DeleteI love your pink afghan--I'm a fan of bright colors!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you-these are ugly times. They are prolific times for the meme makers and there are lots of good ones, which keep me laughing. Because if I didn't have that I'd be crying! Just when you think it can't get worse, it does--but he's starting to get pushback from his own party. Let's see what happens.
I'm with ya on we have to laugh to keep our sanity. Somedays it's hard though. Fingers crossed on the pushback, hope it grows.
DeleteI love the pink afghan, a night bright palette. How lovely of your daughter to send not one but two beautiful bouquets, what fabulous arrangements.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo. I like bright colors as well.
DeleteThe ugly legacy of slavery is still poisoning America today. Trump-MAGA-fascism is intimately tied up with it.
