I've added a Good Reads Widget in the right side bar, in an effort to keep track of my books. Almost all are rated 5 stars, some 4 and a few less. Since I just started the account and widget, I can't remember many of the books, so my ratings aren't probably the best. I don't imagine everyone rates everything they read a 5? These are books just since I started using Libby to do audio books. Previously I used the other library app, that I no longer remember the name of and those books apparently did NOT transfer over when I loaded the Libby app, so no clue what I read/listen to then. Further down is the actual shelf where you can see some of the books listed. What I don't know is, are you able to click on it to see all the books, or is that only for me? Need someone to try it out, and let me know. Since I'm new to this, am trying to determine how it works. Thanks!
PAGES...I've added an additional page (see the titles listed before the post). The new page added is a means to keep track of my exercise. My steps, walks, yoga, planks, and bike rides. Sadly, due to the weather, I'm not getting the walks or bike rides, but trying hard to continue the planks and yoga. Check out the new page.
I've deleted some bloggers on my blog list who don't seem to reciprocate blog visits or comments and added some newly found blogs. The list is forever changing.
I've deleted a few widgets and moved others around in an effort to try and freshen the look of the blog.
I started this book, but sent it back to the library through the Libby app, as I had too many books and this wasn't at the top of my list. But, I have it listed as a book I want to read on my new Good Reads Widget. It takes place in WWII (I know you're shocked, lol), in the Artic Wilderness when a US Cargo plane crashes into The Greenland Ice Cap. This is a true story of survival and I think it sounds good, so I hope to get it a 2nd time in order to listen to it.I had this book on my list for some time, so when it became available, I returned "Frozen in Time". I had previously listen to, "The Warsaw Orphan", that was based on Irena's story, so wanted to read the actual book about her. What a brave woman, she saved so many Jewish Children from being killed in the concentration camps. In 2009 there was a TV film, "The Courage's Heart of Irena Sendler, based on a biography, Die Mutter der Holocaust-Kinder. Irena's story is true. She was a Catholic Social Worker who saved approximately 2,500 children., as part of The Polish Underground. She was arrested, questioned, and tortured by The Gestapo.**No additional pictures of Buckeye Scarf or the Blue and White corner to corner blanket, as I've not worked on them since the last pictures.
Awesome with the kniting! Looks like you have a good list of reads. Thank you so much for the comment..oh the story..is on going (I actually have 2 different ones.. Megan&Caitlin and an older one Ellie). Actually in the Megan&Caitlin story it is about an abusive older brother. Thanks again for your comment and all the best to you and your beautiful blog. Stay creative!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and kind words. Will add you to my blog list.
DeleteHello Sandy,
ReplyDeleteThe blanket looks pretty, I love all the colors. I use Goodreads and my library Overdrive for my ebooks. I tend to read a lot of mysteries. Our weather is much colder again, feels like winter is not over yet. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great new week!
Overdrive...that's the app I couldn't remember the name of. I used it before switching to Libby. Someone told me they thought Libby was more user friendly, which I think is true after using them both. Plus, the library kept popping up a note telling me to switch. Hope your new week is good. Will get you added to my blog list. Thanks for the visit.
DeleteI've read a bit about Irena Sendler and am very interested in reading both The Warsaw Orphan and Irena's Children. I'm so glad you mentioned them.
ReplyDeleteYou won't be disappointed. She was truly a remarkable woman.
DeleteTrying again to reach you, your comments on my blog have an invalid email for me to respond to you. Probably your browser is filling it in, but it comes up as sandycrochet at yahoo, and when I reply it comes back as undeliverable.
ReplyDeleteResponded to you about this previously. Wordpress forces me to use a pretend email because it won't accept the fact that I no longer have an account with wordpress. I deleted it over 10 years ago; but if I put my real email addy in, it goes right to the log in screen.
DeleteIt isn't wordpress doing that, it is Gravatar. That is a security thing, so no one else can use your email to comment, it wants to be sure it is you. You need to delete your Gravatar profile as they are linked.
DeleteI don't have a gravatar profile, never did.
DeleteYour blanket looks so warm and soft.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
It is nice and warm. Have been enjoying having it on my lap as I work on it, since it's gotten cold again.
DeleteThe colours in your blanket are so vibrant,it will be so cosy to use. Irena sounds like such a brave lady:)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, I love the vibrant colors, and she was so very brave.
DeleteYour blanket is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the pages you have added to your blog. The good readings one is very interesting.
Recording the activities is a stimulus to do better.
Here the things go wrong, I suffer for the crushing of a vertebra.
Oh No! So sorry to hear about your crushed vertebra. Hope you heal soon, and many thanks for the visit and encouragement with staying active and recording it. Much appreciated.
DeleteYes, in my opinion, I'd add ruffle edging.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anni, appreciate the feedback.
DeleteGo to https://en.gravatar.com/, sign in at the upper right with your old wordpress login. then go to https://en.gravatar.com/support/deleting-accounts/ and follow the instructions.
ReplyDeleteThank you I've done that, so we'll see how it goes from here.
DeleteJust email me directly if you have more questions, rather than post all this on each other's comments.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sandy, This is my second attempt to leave a message - now doing it under the PopUp mode. I don’t see my first message that I left under the Embedded mode - but you mentioned seeing that it was sent.
ReplyDeleteAll very confusing.
All very confusing indeed. Thank you for trying a 2nd time, glad to see it's there so perhaps the pop up method will now be good for folks. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteDang, those books seem to be ones I'd love to read. I love a good historical book to break up the mysteries I like to read.
ReplyDeleteI will have to mark them to read after I finish my current book.
In cold March rain/snow/sleet weather I read about two books a week.
Thanks for the visit Val. Will get you added to my blog list. I probably will listen more in nice weather to books, as I will be walking more and listen to audio books while walking. Or maybe it won't be any different, as I listen to books while I'm here in the house as well. Hope you enjoy the books.
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty colors of the blanket. And it's fun to keep up with your books on Goodreads. I have a widget on my sidebar too. Maybe you need a different widget. And thanks for the nice comments you always leave. I always say...I'm afraid of a lot of things but walking in the woods is not one of them. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is looking nice, love the colours. My wife has made lots of blankets through the years, she love knitting, crocheting and tatting.
ReplyDeleteThe book, "Frozen in Time" sounds good, I'll have to see if our library has a copy. Enjoy your day and have a wonderful new week.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI did watch the movie.
With your reviews, I plan to read the books. Thank you.
I am excited to see what you decide regarding your blanket.
Thanks for the visits and comments Lavender Dreamer, Bill and Carla. All are appreciated. I'll check out the widget you have Lavender.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is lovely. I like the idea of keeping a list of books on your sidebar. Beats the scraps of paper all over my end table, LOL. When I was working I read a lot of cozy mysteries. I have been branching off into biographies lately.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Miss Merry. Give the app Good Reads a try, I think you'll like it. I like a good biography as well.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is lovely. I think a nice border would look nice on it. Thanks for the book recommendations. I'm always looking for the next good book to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Needled Mom, much appreciated and for your input on the boarder. Will add you to my blog list.
ReplyDeleteYEAH!! I am so excited to be posting to your blog again! I know it is silly but I have a handful of blogs that I couldn’t post on - and I was still visiting because I enjoyed them. Occasionally I would send an email to let them know I was still “hanging around” but that was not near as much fun as posting.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really like that blanket you are working on. I may do something like that at some point myself as I have a bunch of yarn I am trying to use up - and a multicolored blanket is the perfect project.
I've gone back to embedded, so my comments appear under the person I'm replying to and because I don't have to tell it I'm not a robot each time. It's weird, It's like it doesn't know it's my blog so I'm leaving a comment just like I do when visiting others blog. Hope you're able to comment in the future.
DeleteLove your creation. The colours go together so well.
ReplyDeleteI list the books I have read in my side bar, but don't rate them. Occasionally I do a blog post about them. Sadly there are not many five stars so far this year.
I just got on Goodreads a few months back to keep track of books I'm reading this year and I haven't really played around with much on it other than listing the book I'm currently reading and then listing the books I've finished reading. I'll rate a book but rarely write a review on Goodreads (just not enough time some days lol to do it all). I'll check out those books you mentioned. I "like" to read books from WW2 era. Very nice looking blanket you are creating!
ReplyDeletebetty
The blanket's lovely. I do like an edging on a blanket but I think this one looks fine without so it's really down to what you'd prefer to do.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is coming along beautifully, Sandy. I have a notebook which I keep a reading record in, but I don't really rate the books, although I am a big re-reader too, so will go back to my favourites.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
Best wishes
Ellie
Retired Knitter many thanks for the back and forth to figure out this crazy blogger thing. Love seeing you here and thanks on the blanket. The corner to corner is fun to make and a great way to use up left overs.
ReplyDeleteHi Elephant...If I don't like a book, I generally stop reading it; so when I was listed all these books I bounced back and forth between 4 and 5 stars, cause I really couldn't remember which ones I liked better, lol. Then when I added books from my ipad (and think there are still others to add), I really couldn't remember because they were even older so gave many of them 3's...smack dab in the middle. Not sure if you can list books without rating them on Good Reads, will have to check that out.
Thanks Betty for the visit and kind words, both are appreciated. I've only written one review on Good Reads, as it was a book I had just finished and so remembered and LOVED the book. I don't go back and review books from before, but might write reviews as I finish a book, now that I have things listed. Will have to see how that goes.
Thanks Jo for the visit and input on edging the blanket.
Ellie, not sure I've ever re-read a book; but if it's a series and I need to refresh who's who, I might take a look to remind myself. Thanks for the visit.
Thank you for bringing attention to Irena Sendler. What a true heroine.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket's coming along very nicely.
My your blanket is growing by leaps and bounds. The colours are very cheery.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thanks for the visits Robyn and Jackie, much appreciated. Right you are Robyn, Irena Sendler is a true heroine, someone everyone should know about.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of the afghan and don't think a border/edging is needed but if you like the look better with a border then go for it. You should please yourself. I use both Libby and Overdrive but more often use my Kindle. I did check Libby and I don't see my previously read books but I was able to sync my wishlist and it now appears. There is also a section of books they list - not on my lists but just random books they think one might like I guess. And to leave this comment I had to click on many pages of pictures. I guess I got some wrong?
ReplyDeleteI don't have spam thing activated, hate them. Let me know if that happens again and I'll double check the settings. Thought I'd try out the pop up comments vs embedded, but like embedded much better. You can see my replies aren't always after the person I was replying to with this method. Plus, it's like it doesn't know it's my blog and I have to click I'm not a robot each time.
ReplyDeleteThe pop up went away and the notify box is box.
ReplyDeleteThat should have said the notify box is back. I did not have to do the picture thing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandie, good to know things are working normally again.
Delete"Irena's Children" probably has a special relevance right now. It's hard to believe that we are dealing with a country in Europe being invaded again, with its predictable destruction, and millions of refugees. We never learn, do we?
ReplyDeleteSadly you're right on the mark David. It is truly very sad, disappointing, frustrating and more.
DeleteAs always, great job on the knitting. I enjoy seeing the progress. The Good Reads Widget is an excellent addition to your blog and it helps me remember all the good books you have suggested.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and kind words, both are appreciated. I'm enjoying having the widget, my memory just isn't good enough to remember all the books.
DeleteI've not seen a blanket knit on the diagonal like that. Looks very cool - I like the colors, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you PaintedThread, I think they're a bit more interesting than regular stripes and more fun to make.
DeleteI love to read what other bloggers are reading and your book looks interesting, so one to add to my list of 'to read' Love your colour choices for your blanket too.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Christine, let me know what you think of the book.
