Peace, at last

My Mother passed today, peacefully with the love of her life, Daddy at her bedside. I'm so relieved to know she'll suffer no more. My heart breaks for him, they've been married 61 years last August. My two brothers, their wives, and my husband and I were there; though not in the room with them. I think their relationship was so very special that is nice they had those final moments together.

Daddy and I had gone this am to make arrangements. She knew we were putting things in order and I believe this too gave her comfort.

I'm grateful she's now at peace, and have begun thinking about how to best help Daddy through this next trial. It's Spring, a time of growth and renewal------he's a consumate gardner and I pray he'll find comfort in planting and tending his garden.

Thank you all for the continued support you've given, I truly appreciate it---more than I know how to express.

Sandy

Hang in there, Sandy. I'm always at a loss for what to say in times like this, but know that even someone you just met through Twitter is willing to help in any way I can.

  2. Oh, Sandy...My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm so glad she is at peace now and no longer in pain. It was a rough 40+ days and so sorry you all had to go through that. I'm sure Hospice was a great help to all of you. Hugs and prayers are still with you all. ^i^

  4. My dear friend,

My heart breaks to read this, but on the other hand, I am glad that your mother is no longer in pain, and that your family will no longer struggle to figure out how to help her through the days of trial. I know how that goes.

I have made you our star of the month over at Homespun Helpers and explained what a source of power you have been there -- I know that you know this in your head, but it bears repeating here that you have many many supporters here in the online charity world (me among them) and if you need ANYTHING (including talk of me doing double backflips, which is being discussed in our livejournal community for some reason) you just let us know.

Take care of yourself please, my dear. Big hugs.

  7. I am so sorry to hear your mother is gone, but happy for her to be free of her suffering. It is nice she and your dad had that special time together before she left this world for the next. It will take time, but Dad will find his way.

  19. Sandy, I have not know you before today. But You sound like a wonderful family and I am sorry you lost your Mom but I know she is better off and that is what all of you want for her.
As someone who lost my dear husband of 48 years almost 2 years ago I tell you; please keep daily contact with your Dad while he is adjusting to being alone. That has helped me through so many weeks and months .Without my children coming by with a meal to share or just a few minutes visit it would have been much harder. My prayers are with you all

  20. I'm so sorry for your loss. Several months ago, I lost both of my grandmas in the space of 3 days. Both had been in hospice and we were just waiting for them to be at peace finally.

I, myself, lost my mom just before she turned 50. So I can say from experience that it's always easier when they've led a full life. My thoughts are with you.
