Started this shawl on a recent vacation. Needed something small and easy to work on while on the plane. I've since lost my note and need to refresh my memory, but finding the pattern again on line. I know you were to go as far as you wanted before starting to decrease to make the 2nd half, but I'm having trouble visualizing how to do the decrease so I keep the design where the yarn overs are. The yarn overs for you non knitters is the edge with texture you see on the left. I didn't work on during vacation, and couldn't work on it on the return flight cause I lost my note. Argh.
Instead I worked on this during vacation. It too is a shawl, but after I did several additional rows of light gray and yellow, I decided I didn't like it. And the beginning which is tighter due to using bad needles when I started it......was very apparent to me............so I frogged the whole thing. Another ARGH.
Here's my Un-knitting. They look better together in balls than when it was knitted. So the yellow and gray will have to be for a different project.
And here's how far I got while on vacation after ripping out. I also decided it was too wide so cast on about 3/4th of the number of stitches as the first go round. AND decided to start with the darker combo and paced the stitches different. I did both single and double YO on the first one, but singles really aren't noticeable so didn't use them the 2nd time. I'm also using more garter stitches in between sections of changing colors to add a bit more sturdiness to it. Debating if I have enough yarn or should so find a yellow or blue that blends to add it. From memory believe each ball is slightly over 400 yards.
Went to an art fair while on vacation........more on this later on my travel blog
Did lots of walking and hiking. Enjoyed a DQ after one hike, but as you can see it was hot and the cone was melting very quickly so when we ordered, she immediately put the cones in a cup.
Haven't joined this blog hop before...but like the idea.

Took a nice long walk and have already hit my goal of 11K a day. Am thankful I can walk that far, and even more thankful I managed it by 11:30 am, so all the rest of the day will be a bonus.

Art Festivals
This is the 2nd year in a row I've been able to attend The Columbus Arts Festival with my SIL's and I wanted to share a little bit of the fun with you all.
I love scuptures, particularly metal ones. There were others, but so many people around them I couldn't get pictures. Aren't they fantastic!
This was just plain fun, that's a real person not a sculpture! Some folks would walk by and really think it was a statue and he'd slowly grab them...what a hoot. I posed with him but someone walked right in front when my SIL, Jan and Julie snapped the picture....errrrrrrr. This might have been one of my favorite parts. We watched for quite a while.
Look at this marvelous old camera. The booth held wonderful black and whites from this artist.
It's a fun way to see lots of different kinds of art, to support hard working artist. Last year I purchased a jacket which I still love. She was there again this year, and quess what...yep I bought another one of her special jackets. Will get photo of it later.

Sunday........whew
I showed you the inside of one of these Iris a few posts back, but wanted to show you a large group of them in bloom. They're done now, and actually I just finished trimming them today. These line all 3 fence rows in the back, plus the 2 sides of the house. All are from starts from Mom and Dads yard years ago that I've continued to separate and plant and plant and plant. So...it seems those of you who voted on which badge to use for my blog....hit it right on the head.
We've had a very busy couple of days. Many of you will remember my niece Janet, who had cancer and spent such a long time in the hospital etc. She and her mother came for a visit a few days ago. She looks great, feels great. Was wonderful to see her again. She's now on her way traveling to Switzerland! A summer study abroad type program. How awesome is that. One day a group of us went to The Arts Fest here in town...it was hot but we had a great time anyway. Walked alot and then collected up with the rest of the family that evening for a cook out after SIL picked up the ladies from the Spa. More fun. Then while the men went fishing, some of us spent the day at the zoo with my oldest nephews's son. Great fun...another hot day for sure; but hadn't been to the zoo in a long time so really enjoyed it.
Today..........spent time trying to finish up some stuff in the yard, while hubby played golf, and well thats about it. I'm tired.
Hope you all had a fabulous wkend and have a good week planned.
I've made several updates over on the Bridge, so please stop in to see the wonderful projects. Finally I was able to finish a project...really the first yarn since Mom's passing. I'm still having a hard time getting motivated to knit and crochet again. Though I did spend time the other day organizing my office and got yarn also organized. Perhaps that will help.
Take a virtual trip with me on my travel blog, I've updated there as well.
