Knitting, Audio Books, Movies, Exercising, and The Supreme Court

Making headway with the worsted weight asymmetrical scarf.  Trying to decide on size.  I'd like to start and end with the same color (purple), which is where I currently am; but it doesn't seem quite large enough...but I think doing 3 more sections of jade, gray, purple will be large.  Soooooo, do I make this purple section wide and call it?  Do I make the next round smaller sections than I have been doing?  Would love some input folks.  Worked on this while listening to the hearing the other day.  I've watched almost all of them, but this latest one with Cassidy Hutchinson.  WOW!!  I really couldn't work on something that required much attention.

Haven't  worked on the variegated sock yarn asymmetrical scarf using the same pattern as above, so no no headway there.  Have continued to work on the Snail Hallow Shawl, but it doesn't really look any different, so didn't bother with another picture.
Two stars that I really enjoy.  Had not heard of this movie from , but then as I have mentioned before, hubby and I don't go to the movies.  And rarely know what's out; but often I hear people talking about a movie they've seen.  This is directed by Rob Reiner, so you know it's funny.  In my previous post, I said I tend to watch different shows when hubby's not around; though I don't think he would have called this a "chick flick".  I stumbled onto it while he was out of town on business.  Care to watch the trailer....Click Here.

Facing The Mountain by Daniel James Brown is a true story of Rudy Tokiwa, Fred Shiosaki, Kats Miho, and Gordon Hirabayashi and their families.  The families were in concentration camps after Pearl Harbor, while 3 of their sons fought bravely in The War.  The 4th gentlemen fought in the courts.  This is an award wining book.  A New York Times best seller, a NPR's "books we love in 2021, and Christopher AWard, among other awards.  Put it on your list folks.

Up's and downs.  I did better this month (June) with planks.  Doubled since May was 6 and June was 12.  Yeah!
Yoga...boo me, May was 11 x June only 6.
Walking...actually going for a walk was 7 x in June vs 12 in May, and mileage down from 119.62 to 103.07.
**Still mowing and doing lots of yard work, so there's that.  Need still to get this recorded on my Exercise tab.
Expressing my disgust with the Supreme Court.  3 of those judges absolutely lied under oath with their hands on The Bible.  I feel like woman have been set back 50 years and fear more is to come.

  1. Both your hearings and the Supreme Court news have been featured here. And fill me with horror.
I like your idea of making the next sections in your scarf smaller but still finishing with the same colour.

    1. I am filled with horror as well. Thanks for your input on the scarf. Got one nod for each idea, hope others chime in. And you were right, your comment was in spam....why is beyond me. Yours and about 10 others. Thanks for your help.

  2. I knitted an asymetrical scarf 2 years ago in quite pricy Scottish pure wool, I've never worn it because it was too hot round my neck and it itched!! I might undo it, but what would I do with the wool? Loved that film 'And So it Goes', two very good actors. Found your blog from Terra's, I shall be back to read it again,

    1. That's too bad about the scarf and nice wool. Usually once you do the soak, the wool softens up. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I did too. Will get you added to my blog list.

  3. So I am in total agreement in your disgust with the Supreme Court decisions. In my mind their selection was tainted by who nominated and approved them. Terrible terrible decisions. Elaine. Mynext20yearsofliving.blogspot.com

    1. So above is a cut and paste from the email notification I got that Elephant's Child had left a comment, but when I came to my blog, the comment wasn't there. This is the 2nd time this has happened, not for her; but another person yesterday. Thanks for your input on the scarf, appreciate it And I so agree about the hearings and Supreme Court filling me with horror.

  5. 'And So It Goes' should probably be a movie worth watching. I too enjoy the two stars Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton. Great actors! I'm also fond of Rob Reiner, a multi talented actor and director.

  6. You seem to have lots going on and your knitting projects are coming along very well from what I can see.
Women are always being set back by men - one step forward and two back, it seems. We all just have to keep on fighting, in whatever way we can.

    1. Yes making progress here and there with the knitting. Totally agree with you regarding men holding women back; but we must keep at it.

  7. I strongly suspect that my first comment (and probably other people's) is in your spam folder. If you don't know where it is, go to the comments page. At the top of the page there is a downward arrow (small). Click on that and it will show you published comments and also a spam folder. 10. Gotta love those summer chick flicks. It seems this summer those block busters are close to 3 hours long. Add in the previews and its an all afternoon affair. All the best to your creativity ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for your comment. It is strange how some don't want anyone to know about a pregnancy until later. Maybe they just don't want to chance.

  14. Yes, it's incredibly frustrating to know that when questioned under oath if Roe v Wade were 'settled law' they LIED unreservedly. My belief in the power of the Court to remain neutral in their decision-making has been shattered.

    1. Understand and agree, I no longer have faith in the power of Court to remain neutral either. Sad, sad indeed.

  15. We recently replaced our 16 y.o. upstairs tv with a 55" Samsung Smart TV. Now that we have two smart TVees we are subscribing to Prime streaming which has tons of movies. No need to go to the movies. I saw the one above on list too

  16. I was feeling SO hopeful watching the Jan 6 hearings, but wow, that SCOTUS decision really knocked me off my feet. Tired of feeling anxious and worried all the time! I might need a body scarf to wrap myself in. LOL

    Nice job on the movement!

    1. I know what you mean Wendy and agree, I too was becoming hopeful and then they reversed Roe and I feel devasted for all the women it will affect who are younger than me. If wrapping in a body scarf would help, I'd gladly knit one.

  22. I was shocked and dismayed by the Supreme Court judgment. What has the law got to do with such personal decisions as whether to have an abortion or not? Misogyny is still rife in so many walks of life.

  23. I'm with you on the most recent rulings. Shocked, horrified and irate. Lots of work to be done by those who don't agree and don't want to see the 1950's again.

    1. I so agree Buttercup. I certainly don't want to go back to 1950; but that's where things are headed if we can't get rid of some of these extreme right folks.

  24. I agree with making the purple just a tad larger and calling it done.
I am with you on the recent rulings and being Canadian am watching to see if our Conservative party follows (hopefully they don't, though we do have a great many that would love to). Right now our Liberal government says no way.

    God bless.

    1. Hope your current government prevails. It's gotten truly pathetic here with the "Conservatives". Many are detached from reality. Thanks for your input on the scarf. 2 for making the purple larger, and 1 for another round of color with smaller stripes.

  26. I am aghast at some of the justices in your Supreme Court and the recent decision of Roe v Wade. I am aghast at what is coming out at the January 6th hearings. I shake my head in disbelief as to what politicians and powerful and corrupt people get away with in America. I wonder as to why some aren't in jail already??!! As to your lovely scarf, yes, I think a little larger. Thank you for the heads up for the book; it looks like a fabulous read. Love the photo of Liberty with her head in her hands.....so, so true.

    1. I too am aghast at the things coming out in the hearings, and the court. I fear things won't get properly resolved. I fear those who created this horrible mess won't be held accountable, and that simply not right. They should be in jail.

  27. Scared to death about what it going to happen to our country with that court in place (I saw someone refer to it as the SCOGOP and that is just about true with the majority it has now). I need to do more Yoga to bring my blood pressure down!! Thank you for the movie recommendations and books here and in your later post.

  28. Hi back! I'm with you on the scary Supreme Court's recent decisions. Have you read Resistance Women? So many parallels between then and now make it a tough read, at least for me. Love your scarf and it's great colors.
