2025 is coming to an end, so I was organizing some of my project bags for the afghans I'll work on in 2026. As some of you know, we leave Ohio for the winter, so I need my yarn goods organized to go take with me. If you've visited my blog before you know I always name the afghans. My daughter suggested Red Stone for this one. Rarely are the squares I work with the same size, as they were made by so many different people, some are knitted, some are crocheted. I don't remember what color yarn I tossed in this project bag to size and join these squares, so it will be a bit of a surprise when I open the bag. Normally I take a picture with the yarn I plan to work with. This one I've named Popuri. I've included blue, yellow, green, and dark red/marron in this project bag, but once I start working on it we'll see how much of what I use..
Most of these squares are knitted corner to corner/mitered...so for lack of a better name, I'm currently calling it Mitered. But, if you have a suggestion with the colors in it, please sing out..........in tune of course! I've added burgundy and gray yarn to this project bag.
I'm totally without an idea for a name for this one, so please give me some ideas. From the time I had put this project bag together til the other day when I was double checking everything, the mint green yarn was no longer in the bag. Perhaps I nabbed it for a previous project? I can't say I remember. Edited to add Ellie Foster suggested Misty Blue for this one....I need to see how it evolves. But, if anyone else has an idea, please sing out.Calling this Peppermint/Spearmint? This project is a bit unusual, in that the squares are all the same size, probably made from the same person except the for right 2nd row on the top. Again, I didn't photograph this with the yarn to work with, so will see what I end up with.
Lots of sizes in this primarily purple group of squares. Purple Rain? Purple People Eater? What are your thoughts. Edited to add Ellie Foster suggested Grape Juice for this and I think that works well, unless someone else has a thought.
I only have this labeled currently as Everything.........surely one of you has a much better idea for a name? Edited to add Ellie Foster suggested Country Kitchen for this and I LOVE this idea. Thanks Ellie!
#8 is a project bag with blue and green squares. I must have lost the picture I took when I designed it, so this will be a true surprise to me. Darling Daughter suggested Sea Glass perhaps for the name. I had written Marine on the bag. Will see what it looks like when I start working on it.
I'm 94% through this book, "Hitler's First Hundred Days" by Peter Fritzsche. It's taken me a while, not an easy read.......and not a light read. With Darling Daughter being home and Holiday Celebrations this has been peacemeal. As I often say, the people we need to read this book, to see what's happening in our country right now; won't be the people to read it. <sigh>

I love all your afghans--so creative! One of the owners of my gym was wearing a red, white, and green sweater his wife had crocheted for him--it was adorable! I used to crochet--that made me think I should get back to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a FB group called Suburban Women For the People and every Monday is 'meme Monday' where we all share memes. There have been no shortage of them with this administration, sadly. But all we have right now is our sense of humor--it keeps me going, at least!
Safe travels to warmer lands Sandy! Happy New Year!
If you get back into crocheting, sing out or post it on your blog. Love to see what folks work on. Totally agree, we must keep our sanity and jokes/meme's really helps.
DeleteHere's hoping for better things in 2026. Happy New Year :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping!
DeleteYour Afghans are beautiful. The image with Putin is very true. Happy New Year to you. You have a very nice blog 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, appreciate your kind words.
DeleteI like your Buy America. You hit the head on the nail.
ReplyDeleteI know, when I saw that I was nodding in agreement.
DeleteHave a happy and healthy 2026.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill, you as well.
DeleteIt must be very rewarding to put all those lovely squares together, knowing they will keep someone warm through the colder months. Hoping the new year will bring us a more peaceful world and that the midterms will bring us good news. With this in mind, I'll wish you A Very Happy and Healthy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy making the afghans, and people are always so appreciative it feels good. Got my toes and fingers crossed for the midterms. Happy New Year to you as well.
DeleteHow about 'Misty Blue' for the blue/grey one, 'Grape juice' for the purple one and 'Country kitchen' for the other (as the colours in it remind me of that kind of style) - I am sure you'll get some much better suggestions! You have some lovely colour combinations going on with these projects. I hope you have a lovely time away.
ReplyDeleteWe can hope for more peaceful times and better things in 2026. All we can do is to control our own actions.
Have a Happy New Year
Best wishes
Ellie
Thanks so much Ellie for your suggestions. I love Country kitchen that's a keeper for sure. When you said Grape Juice it made me of Grape Vine, but...I don't have green in there, so I think you're suggestion is a good one. I've got to see how the blue/grey one looks. There's not much grey...it may evolve.
DeleteHi Friend,
ReplyDeletePopuri and peppermint/spearmint are my favorites, I think, I actually love all your work. ;-)
Happy New Year!! Here is to 2026!
Thanks so much Carla, much appreciated. Popuri will probably take the longest, as some of those squares are pretty small, but I think it will be fun to work on.
Delete"Rump;s Lired" and Alexa Bwaahahaha... oh it's true!

DeleteI love making afghans and yours look like such fun, putting together all the lovely squares. This post made me smile from top to bottom with the yarn and the memes. I've read something by Peter Fritzsche before, but the name escapes me at the moment. I do remember it was a good book.
ReplyDeleteShari, I'll keep you posted as my afghans come together. So many different colors and size of squares makes it sorta like a puzzle. Hope you'll post some pictures of your work as well.
Delete...Sandy, I wish you a colorful new year and I hope that you never run out of yarn.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom. I do love yarn!
DeleteSuch a great new year's post! So many wonderful creative projects! Thank you for your comments. It is funny how adulting will make us to just the opposite of what we wanted to do. I wish you well this 2026! 💗💗💗💗💗
ReplyDeleteThank you ellie, back at ya.
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing all those afghans once they're crocheted together, you're a whizz with a crochet hook. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2026.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo.
DeleteSigh, you're right. The people who need to read that won't. On a happier note, your crocheting is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole.
DeleteLooks like you are going to be busy getting the blankets done. As others have said those who need to read that will not.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Wish I was wrong about the people who need to read it. Yep busy currently working on one of the above ghans.
DeleteA name for your rug from me, 'Bluey' as I noticed you have a couple of blue balls there to do I presume.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, have fun away and take care.
Not sure which one of the afghans you mean for Bluey. But making a note.
DeleteEnjoy putting your new afghans together in 2026, they will all be fabulous. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy and healthy New Year and lots of good times with those you love.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Much appreciated.
DeleteYou have had a prolific year! May 2026 be another year of continued artistry!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Debra.
DeleteI only wish that the moral state of your country were as beautiful as your afghans, but Trump sure found a way to knock Epstein off the news cycle, didn’t he?
ReplyDeleteThank you David. I appreciate the compliment, and oh the moral state of my country right now makes me ill. It's so tiring to try and fight him and his cult of corruption.
DeleteOh my gosh! What a lot of crocheted projects! That will surely keep you busy as you snow birds go south. But I envy the warm weather you will enjoy I think Mitered should be named Xs and Os.
ReplyDeleteX's and O's....an interesting idea. Thanks for the suggestion.
DeleteI like Peppermint and Purple Rain for the first two. They're going to be so pretty when they're done!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Sherry, appreciate the visit and chiming in on names.
DeleteHere’s to 2026 being kinder to us all, with lots of safe travels, finished afghans and reasons to smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We surely need a kinder 2026, but so far it's not starting out in that direction. Working on the 1st of the afghans, which seems to be the only thing under my current control.
