Not a fan of winter, waking up to this on November 10th did not make me a happy camper. AND you can see we hadn't put away the remnants of summer with outdoor umbrella still there. Plus, as you can see the trees still haven't dropped their leaves. This is really really early to have snow. MELT and chant with me 130 until Spring!!Not too long ago hubby got a good picture of this big hawk resting on one of the chairs on the deck. See the sun and plants vs the above white ick! I love seeing hawks in the neighborhood to try and keep some of the over abundance of chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits in check. Though I think we need more hawks, cause each year it seems we have bigger problems with the other critters eating and digging in the yard. This is not something I stitched, but spotted on the internet and really liked it, so thought I would share it.A very simple and tasty way to make a yummy sauce for your pasta. Cut up onions and tomatoes (I cut mine tomatoes in half, as I use those sweet Compari tomatoes), a whole container of Boursin cheese. I had some nice large basil leaves to add flavor. Cook in the oven on 350 for about half an hour, then stir together. I took out the leaves at that point and crushed them to mix in well and serve over your paste or blend your cooked pasta right in the dish. Excellent!Calling Invisible Women by Jeanne Ray is a book many women can probably relate to. At work or at home feeling that what they do goes un-appreciated. A funny twist as she becomes in fact invisible and her son and husband fail to notice she's not really there. Though her best friend does. Then it gets really entertaining as she's able to spy on folks being invisible. When to be naked and when to dress....now there's an interesting question. A light hearted and entertaining book, but......it does touch on a real problem.
Love story, beach, money, and a mystery all rolled into an entertaining book. Happy Wife by Meredith Lavender and Kendall Shores.
Mailman by Stephen Starring Grant. A nonfiction story about a man who loses his job, can't find another one and settles to be a mailman in rural Appalachia Virginia. He needed insurance so he took the job. It turned his life around in such a positive way. A real eye opener for me. The hard work that goes unseen. Entertaining, and educational.
E. Jean Carroll's book about trumpie and a detailed review of the courtoom with all it's drama. She is very entertaining in the book, even though this is a serious topic. It's her personality. Of course we all know she won, we know he's guilty and sadly has still not paid her. Between this book and Nobody's Girl (previous post), women trying to take down important and wealthy men is not a new problem.
I recommend all 4 of these books. Let me know what you think.
I've started blogging about my France Adventure, click HERE.

Our snow arrived last week and now has finally disappeared. That being said we are to get more early next week and of course we will have rain before the snow, that means ice under the snow.
ReplyDeleteI will see if I can get those books from the library here or check on Kobo to see if they are available for purchase for my ereader.
God bless.
Hope the up coming weather isn't too bad. Good luck with the books, let me know what you think after you read them.
DeleteI just finished Not My Type last week! Do you listen to podcasts? I heard her interviewed on several, and wow, what a fascinating woman!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and easy idea for a pasta sauce! I might just give that a try!
She is a fascinating woman. I just hope she actually gets the money, cause he still hasn't paid her. One tactic after another with multiple courts trying to undo it. If you try the sauce, hope you enjoy it.
DeleteWell, that was a bit of an unwelcome surprise for you. I do like seeing the snow but it is still very early arriving.
ReplyDeleteYour past sauce sounds both quick and easy and delicious too.
I love quick, easy, and good. It's a winner. Yeah, too early for snow.
DeleteHi Sandy! Great book suggestions. I will be looking for these.
ReplyDeleteWhere in Ohio are you? We went to Lowell, on the eastern side, to pick up our auction buys. It is only a couple hours from where we live.
Columbus. Hope you enjoy the books.
DeleteWonderful post! Here in Montreal, Canada, we got a lot of snow as well! Warm greetings from a retired lady. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to say the snow was gone after about 3 days. Hope you don't get too much.
DeleteThe books all look interesting. If I read only one it would be Calling Invisible women :)
ReplyDeleteSo if I have this right tomorrow is your birthday?
Happy Birthday 🎈🎈🎈
Hopefully your snow won't linger.
Thanks, yes my BD is today. Let me know what you think about that book, it's very different. I really enjoyed it. Happy to report the snow only lasted 3 days.
DeleteThe snow is beautiful,
ReplyDeletewe still have sunshine here.
I hope it snows for Christmas!!
I liked the post!! Have a great week!
Thanks for the visit. Snow at Christmas is always nice; but I would be happy if that was it.
DeleteSorry about the snow so early - let's hope it was a blip in the weather. That's a great photo of the hawk. We once had a sparrowhawk on the fence in the garden - it had caught a pigeon. They are amazing birds. You always have some interesting books to talk about.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
I love watching the birds too Ellie. Wish we had more Hawks around. The snow only last 3 days, so hopefully it will be awhile before we get more.
DeleteI like the new Irish blessing!
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs of the hawk - splendid bird.
Me too. I enjoy watching Hawks. They're such large birds, and they way the fly...so strong.
DeleteI don't envy you, though that snow does LOOK beautiful on my laptop screen. Do stay warm and safe, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings from California, and some sunshine when it returns. (The clouds are currently keeping it hidden.)
The snow melted after about 3 days, but I'm sure we'll get more. Groan. I do need some of your sunshine. Hope it returns.
DeleteI must say the snow looks wonderful to me :) Sandi.
ReplyDeleteThe Mailman sounds interesting and I'm glad you put the link to your blog on your comment on mine - believe it or not I'm still having trouble adding you to my blog list, your bog is there but doesn't show - oh dear. Remember I had trouble before..
Virginia's book - I'm 3/4 the way through the book and you and other could be correct when you say she might have been killed. Remember the car that was watching her house in the USA up the driveway when her husband had returned to Sydney because his father was not well? Anything is possible and hopefully all the documents/files will be released very soon.
I know exactly what you mean about the people watching her. I keep hoping we'll be able to get to the bottom of it all. Got fingers and toes crossed. AND am hopeful all the other women will finally get some relief when those involved are held accountable.
DeleteHi, thank you for the recipe. And all the book reviews. My grandma was a rural mail carrier for 40 years, I will have to read Mailman in memory of her.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Carla
That's really cool that your Grandma was a carrier. I think you'll really enjoy the book.
DeleteNo snow at this time, which is unusual.
ReplyDeleteWeather is just not normal anymore. Things just seem different.
DeleteThe snow would be a surprise, we've not had any yet but it keeps getting mentioned and some has fallen further north. Your recipe for pasta sauce looks delicious:)
ReplyDeleteIf you try the pasta sauce, let me know what you think. It's become a real favorite here.
DeleteHi Sandy, I'm an old interest friend from back in the Entrecard days. It has been a while, but I am back since the Hurricane Irma incident and other misfortunes. Glad to have run into you again. I have your pasta meal pinned to my x.com account https://x.com/GinaAlfani (Twitter account) that was posted to my blog Gina's Italian Kitchen. Sorry about the snow!
ReplyDeleteSo good to here from you. So glad you reached out. I'll add you to my blog list so we keep in touch.
Deletesorry . . . should read internet friend!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even catch it. Will hope over to your blog.
DeleteWow. Winter arrived early this year — here’s hoping for a quick melt! Hang in there, spring will come before we know it. And what a stunning hawk. So cool.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank fully the snow didn't last; but a few days. I loved watching the Hawk.
DeleteSome things linger from childhood. I still enjoy going for a walk in the first snowfall of the season. It’s like a rite of passage that never gets finished and done with!
ReplyDeleteI remember liking snow as a kid too, but about 10 years ago, that changed. Now I really dislike it.
Delete...Sandy, being of Irish descent, I love new Irish blessing! Be well and have a fabulous Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom, you as well. Glad you enjoyed the Irish blessing.
DeleteWe had our first snow last week, not as much as you, there was just a light sprinkling but other part of the county were knee deep. That's a great photo of the bird of prey. We get Red Kites around us, they're here every day and yet they were endangered in the 1980s. There was a reintroduction programme and it was really successful. It's good to see them thriving.
ReplyDeleteThat's great news the birds are thriving. Glad to hear the program was so successful. There's a need to protect some of these birds. We need the balance in nature.
DeleteWe had a red tailed hawk in our backyard a few years ago; he was snacking on a squirrel. I see hawks at the preserve where I run. I love seeing them!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing them too, wish we had more of them around here. Glad you get to see them on your runs.
DeleteThe hawk looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless always.
We were pretty excited to see it, pretty close up.
