Tweedy is done, finally. This was one of the more difficult ghans to put together. The squares and rectangles were so different in size, and I had to take apart and remake 3 or 4 squares because they just wouldn't fit. I thought I had enough of the tweedy (see tan ish edge) to size and join; but didn't. I had 3 skeins and by the time I had worked on 7 of the 25 squares I was out of skein one and knew the remaining 2 wouldn't be enough, as I had smaller squares left which would take more yarn to properly size. Soooooooo, I found more black and and added some of mint green to help size the squares, then joined in black. I think it ended up far more colorful then before introducing other colors.
Here's a reminder before sizing and adding black and mint green. In my previous post, I posted a picture of Neo-Nazi parading through a neighborhood 15 ish minutes from my home. It was sickening. This book read by the author in the audio version must be moved to the top of everyone's to read list. This is not pretend or make believe; but very very real and beyond scary. This is a warning of what The KKK, The 3 Percenters, The Proud Boys, and the Oath Keepers and their ilk want to turn our country into. This has long been the plan, and they were able to escalate under the first trumpie dump administration. To say he has given them a green light would be a HUGE understatement. In this up coming scary 2nd administration the guard rails in place with some real Republicans are gone. What is planned with only his MAGA cult loyalist around him is beyond disturbing. PLEASE read this book and tell all you know about it. Joe Moore infiltrated the KKK not once, but twice. This whole book is first hand knowledge and experiences.Book #4 in the Bess Crawford series. She's a Nursing Sister In WWI. She saves lives and solves mysteries. The audio version is read by a lady with a marvelous British Accent, the books truly come alive.Book #5, The War is technical over, but maybe not for many of the soldiers trying to adjust to the aftermath of the War. Bess deals withtheir injuries; and the people wanting to kill them.
A Canadian friend sent me this, thought I'd share it. Our allies are indeed concerned for us.In light of the election and the dread many of us see coming, it's important to share beauty, thus the pretty roses Dear Hubby got me. I LOVE the color.
Our oldest son has hunted down Neo-Nazis for many years. At first as an unknown entity online, but a few years back was doxed and now still continues the work, but is well know. It is very scary how many are out in our world causing problems. He has had death threats, but the police are well informed.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That has to be very scary for you with your son in harms way like that. I wish this horrible problem was discussed more in the news so more people were aware how bad it is.
DeleteThe roses are beautiful. I can't think about the upcoming change in our federal gov't too much else I will blow a gasket.
ReplyDeleteThe changes in our government scare me to death. I try not to think about it all the time; but it's very hard.
DeleteYay on finishing Tweedy, it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bill, appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteSo much going on right now isn't there? Hard not to be fearful but I think that's what they want. For us to live in fear. Fear and distraction, two weapons of choice. Let's resist it and live in hope. This is an interesting post Sandy.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely loved those pretty roses.
DeleteIt is scary, but you're right we still have to live in hope and carry on.
DeleteHi, I love how Tweedy turned out. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!!
Carla
Thank you Carla, much appreciate your kind words.
DeleteTweedy is lovely. We live in strange times with much to worry about and the book you mention sounds like a sobering read. I like the sound of the books about the WWI nurse, I may look for those. Your roses are lovely, it's good to look for beauty in small things:)
ReplyDeleteWe do indeed need to look for beauty in small things like the roses. We have to keep ourselves for going insane over the horrible things he says and does and plans to do. Let me know what you think of WWI nurse series. I really loved them. I hope folks will ready White Robes and Broken Badges, it's an important read.
DeleteIt's a worrying time in the world for everyone at the moment. There is so much unrest and hatred. All we can do is show a good example and not descend to their level. Having small things that we enjoy in our lives is more important than ever now. Tweedy looks great and will be so appreciated, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
You're so right, so much going on, so much hate and unrest and sadly it's not going to get better after Jan 6th. I think we're in for a very long and hard time ahead. I just hope we can get out from under this terrible trend of nationalism, racism etc. Thank you for the kind words about Tweedy.
DeleteTweedy is lovely. You are right we do need beauty in our lives. I love the thought of an emotional support Canadian - and your roses are a real spirit lifter.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, always appreciated. We have to hold each other together with what we're all facing soon. We need to look for beauty and kindness and try not to loose our minds.
DeleteI have not received my Canadian yet and need one! I'm not sure what's happened to the world to become so bitter and dark emotionally. Don't others like us want a world where all work together to enhance everybody? LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is beautiful and the roses are too.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing that intricate, complex ghan. The colors and textures are beautifully soothing.
ReplyDeleteOn that ugly note, I agree. I'm certain that the orange felon and the white supremacists have been partnering for years. Not only has he given them the green light, they helped him become POTUS twice now. It's indeed scary times.
But thank goodness for loving people and lovely flowers.
